If there's one item of branded clothing that any professional motor sports driver would never be seen without it's their baseball cap, suggests promotional headwear specialists, Beechfield Headgear.
"At press conferences, in the pits, during sponsors' photo shoots and on the winner's podium, the driver's baseball cap is always in place. And for very good reason: it provides the perfect location for team and sponsors' logos. When the camera zooms in on the driver's face their race suit is often cut from the frame, but the baseball cap remains visible; when the driver chats to a crowd of fans, their baseball cap can still be seen above the crush of bodies. So, if you want to get your motor sport name or logo noticed, the baseball cap is the place to put it," explains Beechfield's Roger McHugh.
Roger points out that the popularity of baseball caps amongst drivers has resulted in the headwear style becoming an essential part of the motor sport wardrobe. "Team mangers wear them, mechanics wear them, race marshals wear them and, most importantly, the fans wear them," he explains. "Baseball caps are sold as team merchandise, used for advertising promotions, and included in corporate hospitality and ‘driving experience' packages. This opens up valuable sales opportunities for any garment decorator targeting the motor sports market."
The Beechfield Headgear 2009 collection offers more than 50 headwear styles, including 20 baseball cap designs for adults and children. However, Roger McHugh suggests that one style stands out as the obvious choice for motor sports - the B171 Teamwear Competition Cap (and B171b for children).
The cap features angled white piping that runs from above the size adjuster at the rear around the crown and onto the peak. Ten of the 12 available colourways use contrasting colours above and below the piping, (there is also the option of Black or French Navy both above and below the piping). The tri-colour designs, such as Classic Red (above piping)/Black (below piping)/White (piping) and French Navy/Classic Red/White, are especially popular and can be tied in with team colour schemes.
Roger McHugh points out that the Teamwear Cap's colourways have been developed in conjunction with the Teamwear Bag range from fellow Beechfield brand, BagBase. "So you can supply coordinated motor sport bag and cap packages for merchandise, promotions and incentives."
The B171's Rip-StripTM size adjuster means that the cap will fit virtually any head size and the 100% brushed cotton twill fabric is perfect for both print and embroidery.
"Eye-catching, sporty, affordable, available in a wide range of colourways and sizes to fit adults and children, the B171 Teamwear Cap is undoubtedly the ‘ultimate motor sport cap'," says Roger McHugh.
