Fruit of the Loom is adding the colour navy to its men's and women's Poplin Shirts for 2009, as demand for its Work Shirts range continues to rise.
The company's new product development team spent two years developing the eight Work Shirt styles. "The aim was to offer our customers a coordinated range of business shirts that are closely aligned to their customers' staff uniform requirements and corporate clothing budgets," explains Alison McKenzie, brand director.
"The garments not only had to look and feel right, they also needed to be fit for their intended purpose - that is, to look smart in spite of regular and repeated use in often demanding workplaces. The new product development team researched users' needs extensively, and tested their designs exhaustively, before they were happy for the finished products to be brought to market. The garments underwent more than 200 quality tests during the two-year development period.
"The team's persistence and technical expertise has paid off as sales of the shirts have continued to grow month on month since their launch," she adds.
The Work Shirts range offers men's Oxford Shirts and Lady-Fit Oxford Shirts, and men's Poplin Shirts and Lady-Fit Poplin Shirts. All are available in both long and short sleeve styles.
The Poplin Shirts use a 55% cotton/45% polyester fabric, (115/120 gm/m2), which is notable for its hardwearing characteristics and lightweight comfort. They are already widely used within the hospitality sector, and make an ideal choice for smart staff outfits in warmer climates or working environments. The men's shirts are available in sizes S to XXXL; the Lady-Fit shirts come in an even wider size range - XS to XXXL. With the addition of navy to the Poplin Shirt colour palette, the four styles are now available in a choice of five corporate colours: black, mid-blue, navy, red and white.
The men's and Lady-Fit Oxford Shirts offer a heavier alternative to the Poplin styles. They are made from Fruit of the Loom's unique, easy care, 70% cotton/30% polyester Oxford fabric, (130/135 gm/m2). This is notable for its 2x2 weave, which gives a less transparent, higher quality appearance compared with conventional 2x1 weave fabrics. The fabric also benefits from a smoother surface, which lends itself well to all types of textile decoration. The shirts are available in the same range of sizes as the Poplin Shirts and in a choice of six colours: Atlantic blue, black, navy, Oxford blue, Oxford grey and white.
"The Work Shirts form an ideal basis for any smart business outfit where a more formal appearance is required. Customers have been won over by the products' quality, attention to detail, and their affordability," adds McKenzie. "Apart from extending the Poplin Shirts' colour range, the Work Shirts offering will remain unchanged again in 2009. This will provide continuity for corporate."
