Developed by Madeira and used globally for workwear embroidery for firefighters/oil rigs/racing cars and anything where flame retardency is paramount, this special thread works at high speeds on embroidery machines.
Attached is the certificate plus photos of the intensity of tests required to ensure FireFighter reaches the required standards. The European Norm EN ISO 11612 (replacement of EN 531) requires limited flame spread for all garments and threads used industrial protective clothing.
In the test, limited flame spread is checked following ISO method ISO 1502. In the example, the fabric and the embroidery only changed colour but remained intact. Non-treated or thinner garments would catch fire and the flame and melted material injure the skin.
Madeira's Firefighter, combined with flame retardant backing and underthread - which Madeira supplies - ensures the embroidery conforms to standard and protects the user.
