Xpres was a pioneer in bringing sublimation technology to the European market almost 30 years ago. Continual research and development has seen its use increase dramatically by garment decorators both for garment decoration and as a cost effective method of personalising business and promotional gifts and today offers a wide choice of printers, inks, paper and substrates for this hugely popular method of personalisation.
Sublimation itself is a process used to imprint a design or image onto products with a polymer-based surface. First the artwork is designed or scanned into your computer and reversed to produce a mirror image. The design is then printed using sublimation ink onto sublimation transfer paper, and heat applied to the receptive product such as a coated mug, using a heat press.
There's a choice of two printers for sublimation printing - the entry level Epson 1400 A4/A3 and the Duo Trans 4880 - a new 2-in-1 professional printer for the volume user. With the ability to print up to A2 size in superb detail, the 4880 has two separate ink banks - one for sublimation and one for regular ink, meaning that you can now produce sublimation transfers and full colour garment transfers using just one machine.
Xpres also supplies a comprehensive range of sublimation printables including bags, mugs, mouse mats, trophy centres, plaques, badges and clocks. In addition, full colour photography can now be applied to a range of pendants and key rings using the sublimation system.
Specially designed to be receptive to sublimation printing is the Xpres subli garment range. Consisting of the Subli-T and Subli-Polo, the range also includes a women's V-neck Subli-T. Once heat applied to the garment the sublimation transfer gives a bright, photo quality, permanent result. The garment can be stretched, washed and ironed without the design becoming faded or cracked.
