Available from R.A Smart, Mimaki has launched a further innovation in the print and cut market, this time specifically aimed at the dye sub, heat transfer and garment making professional.
The launch of the Mimaki TPC-600 is the first of its kind, says R. A. Smart - a dedicated, fully integrated print and cut machine for the promotional printwear market. Its 60cm (24") print width belies its high volume output capabilities and its attractive price point includes some surprisingly high end features, says the company.
It has been developed on Mimaki's award winning JV33 and JV5 models, with the addition of Mimaki's peerless cutter capabilities built into a fully integrated package.
Able to handle variable data (number sequences or names for example), the TPC-600 comes complete with the full software package that a printwear professional would require to produce competitive products, says R. A. Smart. Running either Mimaki's Sb51 Sublimation ink for printing to transfer paper or sublimation marking films, or even Mimaki's SS21 solvent ink for prepared materials, it can fit into a broad range of workflows, creating vibrant and long lasting output.
The TPC-600 uses several technologies borrowed from the JV Series, including the UISS (uninterrupted ink supply system), which detects when one of the 440cc cartridges has run out and automatically switches to another of the same colour, with no operator intervention required. Working in 4-colour mode there's no need to stop the printer to replace the depleted cartridge, and swapping on the fly means zero unnecessary printer down time, and therefore greater productivity, says R. A. Smart.
When it comes to the cutting, Mimaki's newly developed Auto Media Clamp function varies the media clamp conditions for printing and cutting. These conditions can be set from the RIP software and are automatically switched during print and cut, which eliminates operator guess work and allows for long and continuous operation without additional operator actions.
Also included is Mimaki's Continuous Register Mark Detection system, where small logos and badges can be nested into manageable arrays bound by a set of registration marks. The nests are automatically detected to ensure an accurate cut is achieved, even many metres down a full production length job.
"Combining this with the Auto Media Clamp function totally overcomes issues that other integrated machines have had in the past with cut accuracy on small badges and decals," says Magnus Mighall at R. A. Smart. "Add in the hugely impressive die cut feature, and there's really very little that that this machine can't do. It's this sort of technology that brings digital short run firmly into the ring with the kind of result you might expect from vast volume traditional printing techniques."
He adds: "The Mimaki TPC-600 answers a lot of questions at this width and offers a unique and powerful solution for the printwear, promotion, branded workwear, decal, sportswear and fashion industries. It shares technology with Mimaki's £85,000 top of the range printer, yet is more than manageable out of the box by a novice user."
