The STAG Buying Group, which has some members in the printwear and promotional industry, claims to be continuing its upward trend in the UK market as its members' sales neared £200M at retail.
New signings such as Cat Footwear, Coleman, Magnum and Gola Sport have helped step up the pace of the group's march on new business, further cementing its leadership position in the buying sector.
Commenting on the new signings, md Ward Robertson said: "Despite the credit squeeze and buffeting from the headwinds of a weakening economy the wheels of commerce keep turning."
He added: "Whilst we are quite thrilled with the companies that have just joined us, we are still in the process of building our community of suppliers and members.
"We are an ambitious community and one built on the cornerstones of fair competition, brand integrity, sustainable growth, and a full belief in the outstanding benefits to the consumer of independent retailing.
"It is this self- supporting philosophy that has the strong sustaining qualities that are so important in the testing trading conditions we are all facing today."
STAG represents over 130 leading brands supplying to the sports, outdoor, equestrian, shoe, promotional wear, lifestyle and leisure sectors and has over 400 members with 600 retail outlets throughout the UK.
The STAG Buying Show will be held on November 23 and 24 2008. It is fully booked with 200 STAG retailers, including brands such as CAT, MBT and Glenway. It is open to members only.
