"The garments perform so well because we are using Aquatite 3K fabric."

Papini, the Yorkshire-based company known for its high quality polo shirts, sweatshirts and fleeces, now has four different performance jacket styles: the Tempest jacket; the Zeus blouson-style; the Poseidon parka; and the Hercules 3-in-1.

Aquatite 3K is a microporous polyurethane coating which is waterproof and breathable and works by keeping water out and letting the fabric breath. It is designed to mimic the behaviour of the human skin.

Of the four styles, the brand new Zeus, Hercules and Poseidon jackets use a highly breathable version of the Aquatite 3K fabric with a breathability rating of 3,000 g/m2/24hrs. All the jackets are fully-waterproof to 3,000mm, and all have fully taped inner seams to provide a watertight barrier to seams and stitching, and all have high-quality SLIK zips.

 "You can see that we have not skimped on anything for this range," said Fisher. "They really are performance jackets, and they have zip access for customisation."

The Tempest jacket was launched in May with great success and is already being widely used by national sports clubs, major drinks brands and schools, said Papini. The jacket has a breathable microfleece lining for warmth, making it well suited for chilly spring and autumn mornings without being bulky. It has the added safety feature of hi-vis reflective piping.

Available from stock in black, navy and royal and in sizes suitable for both adults and children: ages 3/4, 5/6, 7/8, 9/10 & 11/12 and adult sizes XS to 3XL.

The brand new Zeus is a fashionable blouson style in poly-twill peach fabric with the additional benefit of a warm, low-bulk insulating lining of polyester ‘Down-Touch'. It is available in black and navy. "The Zeus reflects what is out there on the high street, and is also waterproof, windproof and breathable, plus it is lined for warmth," said Fisher. It is available from stock at the end of October, in adult sizes S to 3XL.

The Poseidon is a long-length parka in a robust, hardwearing 330 nylon Taslan fabric in black with grey trim, again with ‘Down-Touch' insulation for warmth.

The Hercules is a 3-in-1. The outer jacket has a supple 228 nylon Taslan fabric and ‘Down-Touch' insulation. In addition, it has a zip-through microfleece inner jacket. Ideal for extreme outdoor conditions, the hi-vis reflective panel and piping detail also make it perfect for outdoor working in cold weather.

The Hercules is available in red/black and black. It is available from stock from the end of October, in adult sizes S to 3XL.

"We have designed a lot of extra great features," said Fisher. "For example, the new range comes with an inner pocket designed for either an MP3 player or a mobile phone and a channel to take the cable for an ear-piece."

Papini has a considerable reputation both as a stockist and as a manufacturer of bespoke styles of polo shirts, sweatshirts and fleeces. The same principle also applies to the new jacket range, explained Fisher. "We have an in-house design team who will put together bespoke designs for a whole range of garments - polos, sweatshirts, fleeces and so on. Some of the best-known companies in the country are wearing Papini garments," he said. "Now we can also include really high quality waterproof jackets as a bespoke option.

"For a minimum of 500 pieces, we think we can produce possibly the best bespoke garments for workwear and schoolwear. First though, we would like to invite customers to sample our stock jackets. We think they will be impressed."
