Okarma
When ethics matters
Published:  07 October, 2008

Nowadays, sustainable schools have sustainable development as part of their underpinning ethos, which helps to prepare young people to live in a world where changes in our environment and limits on natural resources require different attitudes, skills and behaviours, says Okarma.

"School uniforms play a valuable role in contributing to the ethos of a school and setting an appropriate tone and what better way is there of doing this than incorporating an organic T-shirt as part of a school uniform or after school club or society?" it asks.

Okarma's OK10B Children's 100% Organic Cotton T-Shirt creates a positive image as well as providing a quality garment that will endure. Available in natural, navy, olive and white, the OK10B comes in sizes S-XL for ages 3 to 13. The finishing details of the children's T-shirt are exactly the same as the adult's version (OK10); taped rib neck, plain sleeve hem and side seams and twin needle stitching at the neck, hem and sleeves. The OK10B (and OK10) also include the small Okarma signature embroidery on the bottom left hem.

Okarma also offers the OK71 Organic Natural Gymsac, ideal for carrying a child's PE kit and/or books. There's plenty of room to print a school's logo or emblem (37 x 32cm print area) and the bag can be worn either over the shoulder or across the back.

Nicci Persey, brand manager for Okarma says: "It's vital for schools to maintain their development on environmental issues and educate their pupils from as early an age as possible. Teaching them the benefits of looking after the environment will encourage them to act more responsibly later in life."
