The current economic climate and the pending expansion of Aisin's European business led to the decision to move the embroidery business from Bradford to Aisin's main UK office and distribution warehouse facility in Dartford, which Aisin Europe owns outright.

Aisin Europe will assume responsibility for several new areas within Europe, including parts of mainland Europe, Russia, Turkey and areas of Africa.

The warehouse has more than 12,000 sq feet of storage space with the latest camera assisted, high reach fork lift trucks. "With the experienced personnel to handle this work it makes good sense to work from this unit," said the company.

Also at Dartford is the UK spare parts department, accounts department, stock control and general administration. "It was logical to bring the embroidery division within this facility. We have restructured the day-to-day operations with staff based from home. This has been in place since April and we have found no detriment to our customers," said Alan Cartwright, who has relocated to ensure a smooth transition.

"Indeed, the benefits will start to be apparent in areas like increased stock, greater support and an increase in our activities in the field," he added.

Aisin Europe UK embroidery sales manager Paul Garside has been running several roadshows around the country with the company's distributors and reported a high turnout of Toyota customers and no change to its support and back up. The Toyota ESP9100Net continues to lead the field in terms of the units sold, claimed the company, with the majority of its customers taking second and third machines as their businesses expand.
