With new pieces in its ranges and expansion planned at its premises, Beechfield's Roger McHugh talked to Dan Raywood about the company's activities in 2005.
2005 sees the 10th anniversary of Beechfield, a company who has brought new meaning to the phrase 'expansion'. Not least due to the company's current expansion at the premises in Greater Manchester, but also because of the brand development over the past few years.
Originally starting out in 1995 as the Beechfield Cap Company, Managing Director Roger McHugh has always emphasised the importance of producing the best quality product. Thus the 10th Anniversary sees Beechfield's technicians and designers producing the most progressive range to date, with leading-edge performance blended with distinctive designs.
This is also further emphasised, and is due to be expanded, in the company's in house testing facility. Investment has been made in testing machinery to ensure that the fabrics remain colourfast in washing and sunlight tests, and zips and fabrics are as strong and heavy as possible without spoiling the surface for decoration.
The current expansion will allow for a larger quality control area, and also for larger office space and a new showroom. The current Beechfield staff have mostly been with the company from the early days, or have joined via the company's overseas research or straight from further education. This is a fact that allows Roger to say, 'We've got such a complete team now. I've never been as happy with my staff as I am now.'
Beechfield celebrates its tenth anniversary with new developments, specifically with three new knitted styles. The B47 Thinsulate hat, B42 and B42b high-viz acrylic knitted hats are all made from 100% acrylic and come in a range of colours.
Both the B47 styles feature hi-viz stripes that will reflect when light is shone upon them, and are available in a choice of bright colours. The B47 features a thinsulate lining and a ribbed turn up, and is joined in the specific outdoor styles by the new B355 Mountain cap that is fleece lined and has a waterproof and breathable shell 100% nylon taslon outer.
If you are looking for a particularly trendy style, then the B31 Half Mesh Camouflage Cap is available in three pre-printed colourways - desert, jungle and urban - and features a 100% cotton front panel and peak and a 100% nylon mesh back.
If you prefer the pre-embroidered style, then the Grande Prix, Trailblazer and Riptide designs offer you the base to create the complete custom look. The 2005 winter collection now comprises of 15 products that combines to make Beechfield's 2005 winter collection the most extensive yet.
Other highlights of the 2005 range include the Beechfield Classics collection, that combine superb fabric and colour variety with great styling, topped off with a fantastic fit!
Exclusively for ladies, the B80 is designed to fit more petite head sizes, while the pastel shades in the unisex B54 and B55 also have feminine appeal.
If you are looking for a particularly sporty style, the B41 Sports Visor is still a summer favourite, while the B82, made from mircofibre, and having reflective piping for added visibility, is the ultimate in sporty headwear.
