Director Jill Granger highlights the full range available from Result: "The Result jacket range is vast, featuring rain, fleece, softshell, waterproof's, ski jackets, and corporate wear jackets."

In Result's soft shell range the R119 Blade Soft Shell Jacket and the existing R124 Ripstop Soft Shell Work Jacket are at the top end of the range, says Granger. "Both have Rip-Stop soft shell content and are well suited for more heavy duty usage."

Soft shells are light, warm and functional, says Granger, adding: "They also manage to combine a casual and smart appearance. A standard fleece might be half the price, but with a soft shell you have three times the usability as a fleece tends not to be water or wind proof."

The fabric itself is one of the best materials for printing, embroidery or transfers, she claims. Because it lacks the pile of fleece, embroidery appears neat and clean, and transfers get a good depth of colour and detail.

Other popular softshells from Result include the sporty R120 Soft Shell Activity Jacket and the new R118 Ice Fell Hooded Soft Shell, the company's first hooded soft shell, both aimed at outdoor activities such as cycling and skiing. Further soft shell innovations will be introduced for 2009 in December this year.

For women there is the R122F La Femme Soft Shell Jacket, a ladies' version of Result's R120 Soft Shell Activity Jacket that has a zip off collar with three different colour options, enhancing its corporate appeal.

Commenting on important markets for Jacket wear Granger says: "Jackets are proving popular in the motorsport market, especially the R125 Hi-Active Horizon Jacket. Other key markets for jackets are the corporate, skiing, walking and warehouse markets. Popular in the corporatewear market is the R110 City Executive Coat."
