BPMA board director Stephen Barker is due to undertake a three-day, 250 mile charity bike ride from Newbury to Paris in aid of the Breakthrough Tribute Fund for breast cancer - a charity set up to combat Triple Negative Breast Cancer, a particularly aggressive form of the disease that currently doesn't respond to usual current cancer treatments.
Stephen will be aiming to raise significant funds to meet the event's target of over £250,000 for a special new research unit at Guys Hospital in London, set up to specifically target Triple Negative Breast cancer. Stephen will be undertaking this challenge as part of a 40-strong team of family and friends of Sarah Greene, who died recently from this aggressive form of breast cancer.
Stephen will be riding from near Sarah's home in Newbury to Portsmouth, some 60 miles, and then a further 190 miles to the Eiffel Tower in Paris. He said: "The objective of this challenge is to raise as much money as possible for Sarah's Breakthrough Breast Cancer Charity Fund, which will help pay for a special research unit at Guys Hospital to look into ways of combating and treating this terrible form of breast cancer that my dear friend Sarah suffered from."
Donations can be made easily to Stephen's charity bike ride at: http://breakthrough.tributefunds.com/fund/Stephen's+Paris+ride/showFund/ or cheques can be made out to 'Breakthrough Breast Cancer - Sarah Greene Crocus Fund' and sent c/o Stephen Barker at 212 St Ann's Hill London SW18 2RU.
