Taking the business o the max!
Blue Max Stag is a leading supplier of schoolwear, leisurewear, sportswear and corporate wear to retailers, trade printers and embroiders in the UK
Published:  25 July, 2008

Blue Max Stag is now approaching its 22nd year in the business and offers one of the largest ranges of garments available in the UK, with massive stock holdings to support it.

The company has built its formidable reputation in the industry on quality, consistency and value, offering well above average quality garments, at well below average prices.

Blue Max Stag only deals with trade customers and it is business policy not to sell direct to schools.

Since the acquisition of Stag Knitwear two years ago, Blue Max Stag now offers an unrivalled selection of schoolwear items available in the UK. The Penthouse Polo shirt, for example, the company's flagship brand, is available in 16 colours, each of which comes in 13 different sizes.

The company is aware that in the current climate, holding stock all year round is critical to its customers. To meet these demands, an investment of over £1M has been ploughed into the company headquarters in Trowbridge.

The investment includes a brand new state of the art warehouse facility with the capacity to store up to five million items of clothing. Work began on the new warehouse last December and just six months later, it is now fully up and running and open for business.

Part of the investment has been on the latest technological equipment to service the warehouse including high tech forklifts to enable pickers to access the highest shelves, both safely and efficiently. Sensors that detect movement trigger an environmentally friendly lighting system, ensuring that lighting is used only when it is needed to maximise efficiency and reduce running costs.

The investment also includes a new two-tier mezzanine section in the existing warehouse, providing hanging space for an extra 100,000 schoolwear garments. The mezzanine floor is serviced by a sophisticated conveyor system, which transports garments up to each level and back down again.

With the acquisition of the Stag Knitwear Company in 2000, schoolwear currently accounts for 75% of the Blue Max portfolio. The range is comprehensive, offering most schoolwear requirements for children of all ages and sizes. Customers can trust Blue Max Stag for providing quality items. Only high perfomance fabrics are used, and stringent production procedures are employed all the way down the manufacturing line.

All garments comply with the most current legislation - material used in the dying process is Oeko Tex tested and zips and toggle closures meet rigorous standards of safety.

Though Blue Max Stag is most well known for its schoolwear, the corporate and leisurewear side of the business continues to expand and flourish. The company also has big plans for Medallion, now the umbrella brand for all Blue Max Stag sportswear lines.

Medallion, originally formed in 1977, and purchased by the Stag Knitwear Company in 2000, is most well known for its high quality rugby shirts.

Now firmly integrated into the Blue Max Stag stable following the acquisition of Stag, Medallion continues to offer an extensive range of rugby shirts for both men and women - one of the widest available in the UK and encompassing a wealth of styles and a number of different fabrics.

The Medallion brand will also incorporate several additional lines featuring ‘MaxTech' a high performance fabric used by many sports professionals.  Maxtech is a fully breathable triple layer fabric, which is currently used in the Blue Max football strips and the Exmoor Jacket.

Blue Max is a family business still owned and run by David and Mary Fawcus, who originally named the company after their daughter's event horse. Despite now employing 50 people and carrying millions of garments on site, the company still prides itself on its strong family ethic and is highly committed to providing a friendly and reliable service to customers.
