Mitre's Superstar Netball kit took the first prize of 'Best Designed Sports Kit' at the recent Sport Industry Awards.
The kit, which is manufactured under license by Team Colours, was the winner its category over Northampton Saints' rugby shirt (produced by KooGa), Asics Gel Kayano X Trainer, Georgia rugby shirt (produced by Kukri), Fulham FC's home kit (produced by Puma) and the Nike England rugby kit.
The netball dress has been compared to the England rugby shirt for its figure-hugging fabrics and style which, it is claimed, has brought renewed interest to the sport. The judges said the kit had 'Helped to transform the image of the sport' and a 'big move forward.'
The award was presented to Mitre by Great Britain athletics star and former champion of the BBC1 show 'Superstars' Duane Ladejo and Managing Director of The SportShow Andrew Mabbutt. The event was held at the London Hilton on Park Lane in May and was attended by almost 900 of the country's top sports business people.
