The rise of green incentives in 2008
Published: 27 June, 2008
The growth in all things green in the promotional sector is likely to see record growth continue in 2008, predicts Eco Incentives.
Popular products so far this year include:
- Clothing - popularity in organic clothing especially products made from bamboo will shoot to new levels in 2008. Made from woven bamboo yarn, bamboo is softer than cotton, hypoallergenic, fast drying and naturally anti-bacterial. Environmentally, bamboo requires no pesticides to cultivate and regenerates naturally. The result, 100% biodegradable clothing.
- Bags - Jute bags will enjoy another great year in 2008 after a record 2007. Not only practical, Jute is a natural bast fibre composed of cellulose, which is 100% biodegradable. A brand new product for 2008 is the Corn bag, a corn carrier bag which completely biodegrades leaving no toxic residues.
- Sustainable wood products - the range of FSC products available on the market has already increased in 2008. Wooden memory sticks manufactured from windfall branches are another product that interest has grown in.
- Biodegradable alternatives to plastic - a typical example is the new Vegetal Pen, made from a material chemically derived from Corn Starch, making the pen at least 80% biodegradable.
