UK independent coating and converting company Tullis Russell is making its mark with a new and improved range of transfer papers designed specifically for the textiles market. The trutextile range comprises three different grades of quality transfer papers, each designed to be used with offset litho, screen and flexo printing.
"Printed transfers are becoming more and more popular as a resource for textile designers and printers," says Tullis Russell. "By applying them to merchandise according to demand, the wastage normally associated with direct printed garments can be eliminated. There's no need to store bulky printed items or dispose of large quantities of unsold printed stock. Trutextile transfer papers are a highly cost-effective solution that's quick and easy to adapt. And thanks to their exceptional dimensional stability and lie flat properties they deliver superior colour reproduction and sharp image quality every time."
The latest product in the trutextile range is Texitran ECO, an environmentally friendly transfer paper that has already created interest in the textile decoration market since its introduction in April 2008, says Tullis Russell. Designed with a unique, metal-free coating, Texitran ECO delivers high quality decoration and trouble free printing that is ideal for water-based inks or powdered adhesives. "For the first time it means that designers and manufacturers can choose an environmentally friendly alternative without compromising on the quality of their design," says the company.
Texitran ECO can be applied to traditional cotton and synthetic materials, but one of the most exciting applications is in the baby and children's clothing markets, it explains: "New parents are actively seeking less harmful products to put next to baby's skin, but still want to choose from the cutest designs for pyjamas, t-shirts and tops. Texitran ECO gives them the best of both worlds."
Texitran CP is one of the most versatile products in the range, created with the broadest range of applications in mind. Designed to cold peel, it gives outstanding results with pinpoint accuracy and absolute clarity of design, claims the company - even detailed photographic designs are possible. Texitran CP is also suitable for speciality fabrics such as workwear and sports applications. With good curl resistance, smoothness and consistency of shape it remains blister free, even after exposure to high humidity. A hard working solution that could revolutionise design opportunities for outdoor clothing and equipment manufacturers too.
Last, but by no means least in the range is Texitran HS. Designed to hot peel with 95% colour transfer, the ease of release and matt finish gives a quality decoration with incredibly soft-feel results, says Tullis Russell. It's recommended for T-shirts, care labels, socks and even nightwear. And because it can also be used to screen print puff, fluorescent and glitter products, it gives designers the freedom to explore a range of creative techniques and possibilities.
With such a diverse range of papers, the trutextiles range is ideal for designers and printers looking for ways to improve their printing techniques on a wide variety of materials and textiles, says the company.
Marketing manager Frances Darbyshire says: "The trutextile range is very important to our portfolio of speciality transfer papers. Tullis Russell is regarded with great respect in the printing industry for its speciality coatings and security papers that can be used on everything from postage stamps to concert tickets and promotional vouchers. With quality products like Texitran CP, Texitran HS and Texitran ECO we hope the trutextile range will make just as good an impression on the textiles industry."
She adds: "Tullis Russell is renowned for its quality and attention to detail, from first enquiry through to its unrivalled technical expertise and after sales care. A name you can rely on to deliver outstanding quality and results whatever the application - just like the trutextiles range."
