PROMOTA member BTC Group is a company that is proud to offer bespoke merchandise.
The Middlesex-based company was established in 1977 and has been actively selling bespoke clothing options for more than 20 years.
BTC Group decided to introduce bespoke clothing to its product range in response to a desire from its customers to create promotional merchandise that was solely unique to them.
The main types of bespoke clothing items the company produces are T-shirts, polo shirts and jackets. However, the company claims to have the ability to produce almost anything the client requests.
There are many advantages of bespoke items says Jon Birrell, BTC Group's senior marketing manager: "I would say that an item of clothing designed and produced to comply with a company's brand guidelines has an enormous perceived value, rivalled almost to that of a high-street brand."
Bespoke customers range from retail stores wanting staff uniforms to building societies requesting promotional garments to support specific sponsored events, and more.
The bespoke service that the company offers works in one of two ways: the company has a team of in-house designers who can work to a brief to produce a selection of design proposals, or the customer can design their own garments and the team can advise on ways to improve the design before creating it.
BTC Group tends to give customers the total price of the items before the design is finalised so long as a specification has been confirmed and agreed. However, if the design changes outside the parameters of this specification, it is likely the price of the items may need to be amended. Ultimately, the overall cost of the bespoke products depends on the customer's particular requirements.
The company is aware that regular communication with the client is vital to ensure that the personalisation process runs smoothly.
"Regular communication is of utmost importance during all stages in the process - from the initial concept to final designs, to regular progress reports and smooth delivery," says Birrell. "We also try to receive feedback from customers. Our account teams are in constant communication with customers ordering bespoke garments to confirm they are happy with the merchandise from initial samples and approvals to the final delivery."
As for the future of bespoke wear, Birrell says: "On the one hand, we are seeing more and more companies requesting items that are unique to them. But on the other, with the current economic climate, I predict that we will also see companies increasingly opting for the most cost-effective solution - and this means off-the-shelf garments due to the lower price and short lead times."
It's clear that whatever the customer decides to order though - whether it is a bespoke or off-the-shelf solution - the BTC Group team is happy to help its customers choose the best items for them.
