Designer brand takes a shot at golfwear market

The Calvin Klein brand, which has already diversified into the swimwear and fragrance markets, has entered the corporatewear market with a new golfwear range.

Eurostyle Ltd, an Irish based apparel specialist with a heritage dating back to 1820, will distribute the new line across Europe. The company, which already distributes the Cutter & Buck golf brand in the UK and Ireland, has a 15-year exclusive licensing agreement with Calvin Klein Golf.  

Corporate sales director Peter Dwyer said: "We believe in the policy of using distributors to reach the corporate market. This policy has been very successful for us with Cutter & Buck to date. We completely support the need for large stock holdings across the collection. Distributors require lots of stock, quick turnaround of orders and great customer service. We have proved we can do that and will continue to do so with Calvin Klein Golf. It's a very exciting time."

The Calvin Klein Golf Corporate collection for men and women mirrors the brand's retail image, with clean lines in classic colours. The first corporate collection is mainly polo shirt driven, using cotton and technical fabrics. Natural merino wool sweaters, performance outerwear and accessories complete the offering.

The collection is tailored to offer a casual, yet stylish fit, with co-ordinating men's and women's garments.

Fran Matthews, the president of Calvin Klein Golf Worldwide, said: "The corporate market has never seen anything as modern as Calvin. We wanted to present the Calvin image in a way that appeals to the golfing community, but the difference is the attitude."

As well as distributing Calvin Klein Golf, Eurostyle Ltd also represents Cutter & Buck, Fairway & Greene, Zero Restriction and Pukka Headwear. Design, product development, distribution and graphic design are all done in-house. It expects the new range to prove very popular with customers.
