Organic T-shirt in wide range of colours

Brands with an ethical slant are big news at present, both on the high street and in the corporate wear industry. Supply chains and production methods are becoming more and more open due to customer interest, which in turn makes for a more informed market. This means that brands have had to become more accountable in order to retain customers, with some offering Fair Trade goods and other garments made from organic cotton or other environmentally friendly materials.

Control Union certified Okarma, which launched in 2007, has gone from strength to strength, due to its 100% organic cotton, well-designed, fashion-forward garments. Nicci Persey from Okarma says: "Customers tell us that they are not only attracted by the organic cotton but also by Okarma's attention to detail - the embroidered logo on every garment for example, and the fact that our packaging is as environmentally sound as possible with fully compostable outer bags, swing tags made from recycled paper and outer cartons made from a mix of sustainable forestry wood and recycled materials."

For women, Okarma offers the short-sleeved OK11 Premium T-shirt, which is fitted to flatter the female silhouette. Because it's made from 100% organic cotton, which is not treated with any harmful chemicals, the garment is ‘purer' than if it were made from conventional cotton and this makes it softer, and more comfortable to wear, says Persey. She adds: "Women are also attracted to the huge range of Oeko Tex and Control Union approved colours that the t-shirt is available in - with hot choices at the moment being summery pink, eye-catching red and fashionable olive."
