Skinnifit has been in the business of offering (specifically designed and developed) womenswear for nearly ten years now, and has one of the biggest and broadest ranges of women's clothing in the marketplace today. Its current range spans vests and T's to hoodies and jackets.
Obviously the weather plays a great part in terms of the products in demand: and Skinnifit is seeing - as usual - sales of tanks and vests now picking up as we come closer to summer. This doesn't mean that the winter months see little to no activity in terms of vests: indeed sales of their Hidden Support Tube Top saw steady growth over the chillier times and their Tank Vest remains one of their top sellers all-year round.
Skinnifit says more T-shirt variations are appearing within womenswear. This reflects what's happened within retail i.e. women having a greater range from which to choose. It's also important to realise that not all (plain crew) T's are the same. Skinnifit has four styles of plain neck crew T for women within their current range and is keen to point out the differences.
The Modern Essential range is all about colour, stretch, modern classic styling and breadth of appeal, it says. The new Fineweight T, however, is more relaxed, with a wider neck and all-cotton fabric ideal for layering or a more relaxed end usage; the Washed T has a unique vintage look and the Classic Crew focuses on the advantages that one-size garments can bring.
Fibres & Fabrics
In terms of fabric, Skinnifit is happy to report that elastane is now very much an accepted fibre within the marketplace. It's no longer thought of as being something that only appeared in skin-tight or shiny clothing. The market now understands the benefits that elastane can bring: provided it's kept to a level that doesn't affect the ability to decorate, print or embroider the garment.
Women like tactile fabrics: so it's important that products have that extra-something in terms of handle and touchability. Whether a smooth jersey T, or a brushed cotton hoodie, women want to feel comfortable in what they're wearing next to their skin. Skinnifit's hoodie fabric is notably soft and cosy, though still relatively lightweight.
Colours
This season's black is - black! Black is the best selling colour again, and outstripping the others for the umpteenth month running. White is next in the race, but interestingly enough there follows a complete muddle of colours competing for 3rd place. We're seeing renewed interest in Olive, but also in summer brights such as Surf Blue and Fuchsia, and then there's the softer shades of Light Blue or Baby Pink making a breakthrough. Women love colour - and are showing it! The other notable thing regarding colour this season is the interest being shown in heather grey.
