"Sportswear today is about helping people to perform to the best of their ability," says Andrea Charteris, customer services manager at PenCarrie. "Technical fabrics and garment structure clearly are key; but the look of the clothing is also important, boosting a player's confidence and adding to the visual enjoyment of spectators. In our industry, where a client's image is also in the arena, high quality, stylish sportswear is essential."
PenCarrie's activewear collection features many top brands, all providing high performing, good looking sportswear. "It's often the small details that make a huge difference to the look and feel of sportswear," explains Charteris. "For example, women no longer need to wear unflattering track pants that have wholly elasticated waistbands. Designs are available that have a flat front with an elasticated back waist, which look very smart as performance or even as casual wear." Two such styles are Tombo's TL44 Ladies Open Hem Track Pants and Kustom Kit's K961 Gamegear Ladies Track Pants.
Stylish good looks are also at the heart of teamwear, the new mix-and-match sportswear collections that are hot news for 2008. "The teamwear concept has really taken off since we gave it special prominence in our catalogue," comments Charteris.
"Local sports clubs and schools are prime targets for teamwear and it is usually easy to get contact/event details for them via their websites," suggests Charteris, adding that PenCarrie's website at http://www.pencarrie.com/ provides the facility to make an e-brochure featuring a selection of items. Teamwear, she points out, lends itself to being featured in an e-brochure. This can then be attached to an e-mailed letter of introduction to a club or school.
Tombo Teamwear extends into other areas of sportswear, including body temperature control clothing. Running, rowing and triathlon clubs are just some of the sports groups that could be interested in this. In simple terms, TL71 Short Sleeve Hot Body Fit keeps you cool; while TL70 Long Sleeve Cold Body Fit keeps you warm.
The new Kariban Sport range is another collection that deserves a special mention. This is performance activewear that has the stylish good looks of all Kariban clothing. For example, KS108 Ladies Panelled 3/4 Pants are made from a textured 100% polyester fabric that has breathable properties. For men, there is the KS001 Performance T-Shirt made from the brand's 100% polyester Coolplus fabric, which is moisture wicking and quick to dry. The neat mandarin collar is both unusual and stylish, as are the contrast panels with contrast cover stitching.
