SKINNIFIT
Sportswear? Surely not!
Published:  04 June, 2008

Skinnifit has indeed ventured into the world of sportswear. To some extent, Skinnifit has been in the sportswear arena since it started, with its T's and tops being used for many sporting activities, sports club attire and associated promotions.

But Skinnifit has introduced a capsule range of garments called "Yoga", although points out that the clothing is as suitable for the great outdoors as it is for a serene relaxation room. "This is clothing that's built to stretch, bend, fit and function - but that also happens to look rather great in the process," it says.

The Skinnifit range comprises three garments: a hoodie, a sleeveless hoodie and yoga pants. Each garment is made from very stretchy cotton elastane French terry: with a smooth surface and an absorbent and comfortable reverse.

"The team back at the office put each style through it's paces during the development process: ensuring that elbows, knees and butts didn't go baggy after wearing, and that the garments really were as comfortable as possible," says a spokeswoman. "As usual, Skinnifit has paid special attention to the differences by trimming each piece with contrast velvet taping which really gives it a sense of something really worth having."

She adds: "With sportswear being one of the dominant forces behind what's happening in high street retail in general we're seeing a surge in interest in sports-type clothing within the "casualwear" category. Indeed the boundaries between sports, dance and casual are often so blurred that garments can fit in all three: and indeed be offered to customers in all of those markets."

The Skinnifit and Skinnifitmen Trackie top takes its inspiration from the almost iconic 70's tracksuit manufactured by some of the big, worldwide sports brands. These ‘old skool' polyester-tricot zipthrough tops have regained their popularity and are the clothing of choice of many a celeb and musician, claims Skinnifit.

It suggests that decorators and designers look towards the younger and trendier markets such as music/ band merchandising or, alternatively look at the slightly more kitsch colour options such as white/pink (women's), which make an excellent hen-night cover up!

"To all decorators: make the design big and make it proud on the trackie top," it says. "Whether it's a logo spread right across the back of the garment, or the name of a bride-to-be embroidered on the front, these garments are worn as a statement."
