Summer is traditionally the time when people take up new sporting activities and because of this, summer is big business for sportswear companies. Tombo's Phil Hurley says: "Teamwear is where the spotlight is at the moment in terms of sporting garments, but only where companies are offering pieces that can be mixed and matched to cater for differing tastes, sizes and interests. The key at the moment is to have simple yet fashionable colourways throughout a range."

Tombo's performance range certainly fits the bill, he says, with a number of key pieces made from performance fabric in matching colour combinations. T-shirt options are the TL63 Men's Performance Wicking Sports Tee and the TL66 Ladies' Performance Wicking Sports Tee, where the focus is on a fitted, streamlined shape to ensure minimum friction and maximum performance. The two garments are made from cutting edge ‘IQ' fabric, says Hurley, which aids play by wicking moisture away from the skin to keep it cool, as well as being so lightweight you hardly feel like you're wearing it. Both tees are available in navy/navy/white piping, black/black/white piping and black/red/white piping, with the TL66 also available in white/white/navy piping and navy/white/white piping.

There are also two polo shirts for men and women - the TL64 Men's Performance Wicking Polo Shirt and the TL68 Ladies' Performance Wicking Polo Shirt. Like the T-shirts, they are both made from ‘IQ' fabric.

"Our polo shirts have been especially popular with customers because of their classic shape combined with cutting edge fabric," says Hurley. "These days this seems to be a key concern for customers - they want a design that is not going to go out of fashion but at the same time is available in fashionable colourways and new fabrics." Both shirts are available in navy/navy/white piping and black/black/white piping

Hurley adds: "Our range of IQ garments have been extremely well-received and feedback has been fantastic, with uses including sports kits, uniforms for health and leisure centre workers and gym instructors. With regards to fabric technology, we can only see this continuing with more performance based fabrics, newer designs, antibacterial fabrics and other eco friendly fabrics (like bamboo for example) being introduced."
