PROMOTA member LSI Limited knows how busy the summer months can be for those involved in the promotional merchandise industry.
The Yorkshire-based company provides a wide variety of products ranging from clothing and mugs to confectionery andd key rings. It has its own in-house print and embroidery operations, as well as in-house design facilities.
LSI Limited's md Lloyd Simpson understands how important it is to promote both existing products and new products at this time of the year in order to stay ahead of the game.
"We are always looking for the next range of items that will satisfy the needs of our clients," he says. "We want to make sure we can help increase our clients' brand awareness and offer them the appropriate solutions to help them do just this."
Interest in the company's sport-related products is not just seasonal though. All year round LSI Limited is inundated with requests and orders and is happy to advise customers on what to look out for in the coming months, as Lloyd explains: "We work closely with our clients to keep them informed of what's new, what's likely to be popular, new personalisation techniques and other ways to bespoke their product."
With regard to specific events, the company is able to source items that can be branded to suit customer requirements and tie in with these events. For example, in the past the team at LSI has had to find products that matched the Liverpool football club's colours exactly to tie in with a prominent match for the club.
Preparation really is key to help the company source the most appropriate products for its wide range of clients. However, this is takes a lot of time and hard work, says Lloyd.
"We were producing products to support the London 2012 Olympics from mid 2005 - prior to the announcement of the successful bid! Global events such as these need a lot of planning and preparation," he explains. "We will start looking at products for the London Olympics properly after the Beijing games. That's not to say that smaller sporting events are not as important to us or our customers though - we take time to meet all our customers' demands, regardless of their scale or scope."
When asked why he thinks sport-related items are so popular, Lloyd said: "More and more customers want to portray a clean and healthy image. Sport is the big area for growth. I'm sure the market will continue growing at a fantastic pace over the next few years."
Lloyd prides himself on the fact that LSI Limited provides its customers with solutions to all requests they have, not just those related to sporting events.
He adds: "Knowing why you are doing what you're doing for your client is where a good promotional products company comes into its own. Anybody can sell a mug or T-shirt, but if there is no plan or structure as to why, then you may as well keep your money in your pocket. All in all though, the summer is a great time for selling clothes. And even better if the sun is shining!"
