The May issue: bringing new ideas to life
Published:  01 May, 2008

Spring has finally arrived and all around us are signs of new life: from the lambs being born and the bluebells blooming, to that welcome hue of green appearing in all the hedgerows. So it seems fitting that our May issue is quite literally brimming with new ideas to help your business.

This biggest of this month's focus features is Golfwear: we have 11 pages, starting on page 54, showcasing all the latest styles, from polo shirts and jumpers, to hats, bags and trousers. Golfwear really does seem to be big business at the moment, so make sure you aren't missing out.We also bring you some of the latest products and technologies in transfers and printing inks, starting on pages 30 and 74 respectively.

With the continuing interest in the ethical and organic markets, we felt it was time to really get to grips with all the jargon out there. So on page 18 is the first of our A-Z of ethical terms, which hopefully will help ensure you are well-placed to answer any questions your customers may have on the subject. And, to make sure you are maximising your potential in terms of actually getting those customers, Paul Clapham presents his 5-minute marketing rule - there's no excuse for not taking five minutes out of your day to read this one!

Turning to the subject of training now, Sara McDonnell gives an interesting insight into the initiatives currently on offer in the textile/garment decoration industry to raise technical skills. The government continues to push to make manufacturing more attractive in this country, and it is interesting to read how this affects the textile industry.

We also bring you a fantastic competiton this month on page 44, offering 100 readers the chance to win a new Russell Collection Tencel shirt. This is an opportunity for you to really see and feel for yourself the unique properties of Tencel - the wood pulp cellulose fibre.

Of course that is only a taster of what's in store this month. I'll leave it to you to discover the rest. Enjoy!
