Kevin Anderson, md at Keepme Promotions, said: "There has been a large increase in demand for products sourced from the Far East due to the price savings the region offers. However, with this rise in demand there has also been an increase in the number of companies falling foul of the many associated pitfalls."

According to Anderson, these pitfalls include: compromising on product quality; late fulfilment; payment up front; an array of import and shipping issues; and complex currency calculations in order to save a few pence on each promotional item.

To address these issues Keepme Promotions set up its own company based in the heart of the region it was sourcing from, enabling it to stay in complete control of the process, from initial sourcing to final distribution.

"We now have a permanent, dedicated team of people on the ground out there," said Anderson. "We can now source product locally and directly from manufacturers in China, which gives us a huge advantage on price over our competitors, but customers still benefit from dealing with a UK administrative set up."
