It takes around 150 puppets to make an Original hoody. Cruel? In a word, yes. But the Jerzees Colours team appears to have no regrets, claiming the sacrifice is justified, as the puppets' incredibly soft pelts make "huggably soft" garments.
In fact, the puppets' sacrifice is positively celebrated on the quirky new microsite from Jerzees Colours.
The site, viewable at http://www.feeloriginal.com/, centres on the Original puppet characters whose skins, the brand claims, are used to make the range!
"The website is upbeat and full of humour," explains Kirsty Anderson, a member of the Russell Europe marketing team. "It takes you into a puppet theatre, where you can view the Original gang and watch movies of their adventures.
"Each character has its own movie with its own storyline in which giant hands, unable to resist, are desperate to touch its soft skin!"
Hilarious as the site is, the Jerzees Colours team hasn't lost sight of the fact it is in a B2B market, so the site is packed with tools for its customers. The movies, which strike a chord with the YouTube generation, are all available for vistors to the site to email onwards.
There's also detailed product information, plus FAQs on the range and its manufacture. "Which isn't really about the slaughter of cute creatures, honest!" adds Anderson.
