Following a successful Printwear & Promotion exhibition where two new ranges were launched, Dan Raywood spoke to Papini about the company's recent activities.

Papini has already made a mark in the promotional industry with quality work and leisurewear and have set out to make the next step forward in 2005.

The Yorkshire-based company is already well recognised within the industry for the quality of its products. Papini's Managing Director Gary Fisher states is the forte of the brand. Gary said, 'Papini is about quality and service, we won't compromise on quality. Quality has always been my issue.'

The quality has now been continued into new areas. Papini has launched two complete new ranges services for this year. Firstly there is the new sportswear range, and secondly the 'Elite' range which has progressed from the bespoke service to offer flexibility for those customers requiring 'something different'. This bespoke garment is available 'off the shelf' and has the same next day delivery as standard stock items.

Both of these ranges were extremely well received at their launch during the 2005 Printwear & Promotion show. Comments received on the stand included one visitor stating that "Papini products were the best they'd seen" and another said "Thank God that someone's done something new!"

The bespoke service has already been utilised by a number of high street retail chains, including some who have used the service as part of its rebranding. The bespoke service allows for complete design freedom, with features such as labelling, neck taping, colour options and fabric to fit your customer's brief.

The completed garments are produced offshore and a complete order can be turned around within ten weeks, with repeat orders available within eight weeks. There is a minimum order of 500 pieces and orders can be delivered straight to you from the manufacturing plant.

Papini works closely with its customers to ensure that customer requirements are met and customer briefs are fulfilled. In order to assist customers, brochures and CD-Roms can be produced to include a full range of choices showing corporate colours and styles.

As well as the bespoke service, Papini also offers the Papini Elite collection - what it calls 'bespoke off the shelf'. This is a range of garments with set designs that cannot be altered, but are to a set specification with a minimum order of five pieces.

The research and development of these products shows that they are highly user friendly for many industries, for example, the polo shirts with piping on the front do not have it on the back as this is not user friendly to those wearers who may sit for long periods of time, such as drivers and cashiers.

The service falls into the three specifications that Gary sets Papini on - Performance, Service and Forward Thinking. These three benchmarks has enabled Papini to build a successful and reputable leisurewear range, and adapt these qualities into the new areas.

Also launched for the 2005 is the "Papini Sports" range, which is now in stock following 18 months of research and development. The range currently consists of a training jacket, a tracksuit top and a track suit bottom. The garments are not over-branded and are made from the best quality fabric.

The Training jacket features additions such as taped seams for waterproofing and zipped pockets. The zipped arm pocket is small enough to accommodate mobile phone, house keys or an MP3 player.

The matching tracksuit tops and bottoms are available as separate items, in three colours and in a range of sizes for both kids and adults. The outer is made from microfibre fabric, with cotton lining on the top for comfort and a mesh lining on the bottoms for breathability.

The bottoms also feature a zip from the ankle to the mid thigh which allows the bottoms to be unzipped for easy removal when wearing spikes or studs. Gary said, 'The attention to detail is something we spend a lot of time on. We have skimped on nothing when it comes to quality.'

All the new ranges are shown in the new Papini 2005 catalogue. The catalogue shows garments featured alongside innovative modelled shots of world landmarks. Each garment is given a double page with comprehensive details on the fabric, colour options, sizes and special features.
