Pre-used embroidery machine supplier M-Tech has formed a partnership with a Chinese company that reconditions embroidery machines.
Mike Mahoney made the decision after he found he was losing business to customers buying cheap, Chinese machines. "The introduction of cheap Chinese manufactured embroidery machines has effected our trade dramatically," he said.
According to Mahoney, selling prices of second hand Barudans and Tajimas have reduced by approximately 30%, which he believes is due to the cheap prices of new Chinese 20-head machines.
"To combat this I have gone into partnership with a Chinese company that reconditions older models of Barudan and Tajima machines," he explained. "I've spent a lot of time in China looking at the facilities of our new partners, and I was very impressed with my findings.
"All machines are completely stripped down to their chassis, resprayed and then rebuilt with new moving parts. New table tops are also fitted and machines are tested non-stop for 48 hours."
Mahoney added: "We all know the UK market is aimed at the 1-, 4-, 6- and 8-head machine user but we have a number of firm enquiries for larger machines here and these models will suit our customers' budgets."
