With the large range of transfer media available at Doro Tape, for both solid plotter-cut lettering, and solvent or inkjet printing, garment decoration has never been quicker, easier, or more economical.
For plotter cut logos and lettering, Doro Tape says its Pro flex brand remains the most popular, with its range of 24 colours, including metallic silver and gold, and four striking neon colours. "Made of polyurethane, and with a smooth matt finish this film is very soft and feels like part of the garment once applied," it says. The self-adhesive backing aids cutting and weeding of small graphics. It also makes positioning easy as it holds the graphics in place on the garment until the heat press is applied.
New for 2008 is the Pro flex Plus series, a range of special effect films, with glitter, mirror and metallic finishes, to create high visual impact graphics on garments. As with the Pro flex range, these films are suitable for use on all cotton, polyester, and cotton/poly mixes, with a wash temperature of up to 60ºC.
Also new to Doro Tape's flock range is a collection of four attention-grabbing printed urban designs; in Lizard, Leopard, Snakeskin and Camouflage. "This microfibre material is actually a cross between a flex and a flock, and gives a wonderfully soft finish once heat-pressed," says Doro Tape. Washable up to 40ºC, the Urban Flock has proved very popular so far with the hugely contemporary hoodies market.
For the printables range, Doro can offer the Printa Flex Clear, for use on light or white garments. This new material is printed in reverse and then flipped over before pressing. "The result is a design that is so close to a screen print that it has fooled many an experienced eye," claims the company.
The Printa Flex Pro is a good all rounder. This white highly opaque film can be used on light coloured garments, but is also well suited to black and dark coloured fabrics. And for a really special effect, the Printa Flex Metallic produces beautiful designs with a metallic sheen. Perfect for ‘metal head' T-shirts for the rockers out there! Uniquely, both the Pro and the Metallic films can also be heat pressed on to neoprene, leather, paper and wood.
For an alternative to printed flex, there is Printa Flock; a printable rayon-viscose flock film with a very soft touch and a matt finish. Both the flock and flex ranges are washable to 40ºC, and are suitable for cotton, polyester, and polycotton mix fabrics.
For those with only a standard desktop inkjet printer, Doro's Transfer papers come as either A4 or A3 sizes, and are available for both light and dark coloured garments. Simply print the design, cut around it by hand or using a plotter cutter, then heat press.
Doro Tape can also cater for those just starting out in the garment decoration business with its essential Heat press; a swing-away strong construction with the choice of six different interchangeable base platens for those awkward shapes.
