The UK's £20billion promotional marketing industry has officially launched the search for the most dynamic entrepreneur to be this year's Entrepreneur of the Industry. And the 2008 initiative will be offering an exclusive new range of prizes.
The 2008 winner will benefit from a range of superb prizes including a small business software package from Microsoft worth over £1,000, a five minute promotional video package put together by CRE:8 Multimedia and an invaluable mentoring lunch with Colin Lloyd, widely regarded as the leading business management expert in the promotional marketing arena.
The Entrepreneur of the Industry Award was launched in 2006 to recognise the individuals whose skills, efforts and talent, through their companies, were contributing significantly to the development of the promotional marketing industry.
The Award is open to any candidate from the many areas of the creative and vibrant promotional merchandising industry. The numerous disciplines this covers includes sales promotion, direct marketing, promotional merchandise, voucher/gift-card, point of purchase, field and experiential marketing.
The potential winner could come from any size of company, from sole trader to multi national, including agencies, manufacturers, service providers, suppliers, printers, buyers, sourcers, distributors and product designers. Entrants could be part of an MBI/MBO or could even be an individual who has joined a company with a new strategy or ideas that have turned a business around.
The distinguishing factor will be that the winner must be able to demonstrate growth in financial performance, innovation, impact on the industry, long-term sustainability and, above all, entrepreneurial flair. Entries may be submitted by the individual or by colleagues and industry peers.
Gordon Glenister, BPMA director general, said: "This award was created to recognise the unsung pioneers of exceptional businesses rewarding their innovative concepts where previously they may have gone unnoticed. Entrepreneurs with drive and passion are the type of people we want to recognise through this award, for their enormous efforts in our vibrant and creative industry."
The winner of the 2007 Entrepreneur of the Industry Award was Calypso Rose, entrepreneur and creative force behind the Clippykit bag and range of PVC fashion accessories who took over the crown from Danny Bamping of Bedlam Puzzles, winner of the inaugural Award in 2006 for the Bedlam Cube.
The winner of The Entrepreneur of the Industry Award will be announced at the annual BPMA Awards in December 2008.
Entry forms for the Entrepreneur of the Industry Award can be downloaded from http://www.entrepreneuroftheindustry.com/ and the closing date for entries will be the last day of the National Incentive Show 18 September 2008.
