FRUIT OF THE LOOM
Drive your golfwear sales with Fruit of the Loom polos
Published:  01 May, 2008

A placket polo shirt is to a golfer, what a set of wheels is to a cyclist - you're not going to get very far without one. All but the most relaxed golf clubs have a strict dress code and at the heart of that code is the collared sports shirt; the placket polo. Smart, but sporty: casual, yet refined - the polo shirt is as much a part of the fabric of the game as the putter or tee. As such, it makes an affordable, highly valued giveaway, incentive or prize for any player.

Fruit of the Loom offers polos for men, women and children and says its current offering is the best yet in terms of quality, styling, colour choice and affordability. Polos come in various weights and with a choice of finishing details, to cater for any budget.

When quality is paramount, Fruit of the Loom directs customers to the men's Heavy Polo and Lady-Fit Polo. The heavier weight fabrics used for these styles give them an instant luxury feel that plays well with the discerning clubhouse regular. As its name suggests, the Heavy Polo is made from a heavyweight, (230/240 gm/m2), 100% cotton fabric, (the dark heather colourway uses 70% cotton/30% viscose). The quality of the fabric is complemented by a restyled design for 2008, which provides an improved fit and enhanced comfort. The narrow two-button placket and textured stripe detail to the collar serve to underline the garment's upmarket feel and appearance. "Add a tasteful chest and/or sleeve embroidery and the Heavy Polo becomes a garment that any player would be delighted to receive on a corporate golf day or from a golfrelated promotion," says Fruit of the Loom. The shirt is available in a choice of eight colours and sizes S-XXL.

The Lady-Fit Polo equals the Heavy Polo in the quality stakes. It also is more than a match for many of the women's branded golf shirts currently available in retail, but at a promotion-friendly price. Again, this polo is heavyweight (210/220 gm/m2) and the soft, stretchy 97% cotton/3%elastane combines with shaped side seams to provide an elegant, feminine fit, whilst accommodating the player's body movement. Fashionable side vents and a two-button narrow placket reinforce the Lady-Fit Polo's image as a classic sporting style with a contemporary twist.

For 2008, Fruit of the Loom has added XXL to the Lady-Fit Polo's size range, now available from XS-XXL. There are eight colours to choose from, including corporate white, black, red and deep navy, alongside contemporary light pink, fuchsia, light gold and sky blue. Lighterweight alternatives include the Premium Polo, (available in 16 colours, including new Classic Olive), and the Premium Long Sleeve Polo. Both styles are made from 170/180 gm/m2 100% cotton, (the Ash colour uses 90% cotton/10% polyester), and come in sizes S-XXL. For those customers requiring ‘something extra', there is the Tipped Polo with a single stripe tipping to the collar and cuffs to achieve a more modern look. The three polos have been restyled for 2008, and now offer a subtly slimmer cut and improved fit.

Fruit of the Loom offers a further seven polo styles - four men's styles, two Lady-Fit styles and the Children's 65/35 Polo. In addition, the company supplies the College Jacket - a lightweight shower-resistant nylon jacket with warm 65% polyester/35% cotton single jersey lining, which is ideal for chilly early morning rounds or during summer showers. The jacket lining opens up to allow easy access for hoops and platens. There are six colours to choose from, and sizes S-XXL.
