Over the past few months I have attended several trade exhibitions and encountered a trend which, as a manufacturer and trade-supplier, is of great concern to me.
It appears that with the proliferation of exhibition venues, all needing to fill space to justify their existence, exhibition organisers are being offered extremely advantageous rates to move existing shows to, or create competitive shows at, new venues.
Some of these savings being offered to the major suppliers in the relevant industries include reduced cost-per-m_ or even free space in some instances. This enables the organiser to use these suppliers' presence as a marketing tool to encourage other exhibitors who may not have an equivalent status brand.
The problem this creates for exhibitors such as myself is that it raises the question, should I exhibit at both shows or just pick the one which I think will be more beneficial to me? This is purely a personal view from someone very close to the industry, but I would be interested to hear any comments readers may have on the subject.
