Screenprinting equipment manufacturer M&R makes a wide variety of textile presses, dryers, flash cure units, and ancillary systems. Outlined below is a selection:
Presses
Sidewinder features multiple-bearing upper and lower carousel plates, precise micro-registration system, machined center shaft, and three-point pallet leveling system. It comes in 4-station/4-colour, 4-station/ 6-colour, and 6-station/6-colour models with 41 x 56 cm (16" x 22") composite pallets. It can be integrated seamlessly with M&R's Tri-Loc and Double Tri-Loc Registration System and any M&R automatic textile press to create an affordable registration/sampling/production system. The maximum recommended frame size - 64 x 91 cm (25" x 36") - supports the majority of textile automatic screen sizes. Optional side clamps (with or without air locks), Triple-Play Pallets and M&R's Accu-Stroke Squeegee Guide maximise flexibility, aid setup, and help even novice printers ensure exceptional print quality and consistency, says M&R.
For screen printers with limited space, M&R offers Short-Arm Sidewinders, with pallet support arms that are 20 cm (8") shorter than the standard Sidewinder model. The Short-Arm Sidewinder is designed for screen frames smaller than 53 x 75 cm (21" x 31"). The recommended pallet size for short pallet arms is 38 x 41 cm (15" x 16").
M&R says its new Diamondback is the ideal entry-level automatic textile press. Most owners of manual-press operations look for ways to justify upgrading to an automatic press because of the benefits automation offers. Simplicity of design, strong standard-feature sets, highly-efficient manufacturing processes, and volume production have combined to make Diamondback exceptionally affordable, says M&R. The pneumatically-driven Diamondback is available in 6 and 8-colour models, with a maximum image area of 41 x 46 cm (16" x 18") and a maximum pallet size of 46 x 56 cm (18" x 22"). Diamondbacks can be ordered with an additional printhead over the unload station, turning the 6-colour into a 7-colour and the 8-colour into a 9-colour. They are available in base and enhanced configurations. Both models feature pneumatically-driven print carriages, swiveling control panel arm with touch-screen display, micro-registration, calibrated squeegee pressure adjustment, standard M&R three-point pallet leveling bracket with quick release, rear stroke length adjustment, new composite 41 x 56 cm (16" x 22") pallets, and M&R's patented Revolver Print Program. Enhanced Diamondbacks add pneumatic frame locks, pneumatic squeegee/floodbar locks, and pneumatic squeegee pressure regulators.
Between Diamondback and Formula is a wide range of textile automatic presses, including Challenger II & II OS, Challenger Z, Gauntlet II, Gauntlet Z, Sportsman, and Sportsman E. M&R also makes the Chameleon manual press. With patented Duo-Deck design, four and six-colour models can expand to ten colours and eight-colour models can expand to fourteen colours, all without expanding the footprint of the press.
All these presses are compatible with M&R's Tri-Loc and Double Tri-Loc Rapid Registration Systems. Tri-Locs can be used with wood frames, aluminum static frames, and roller frames. Tri-Locs employ precision-milled stop points to ensure that the operator can precisely match the registration on the exposure unit with the registration on the press. Double Tri-Loc is M&R's twin-screen version. Screens properly exposed on one side of the Double Tri-Loc will be in sync with screens exposed on the other side, dramatically reducing the time devoted to exposing screens. And by combining NuArc's Tri-Light Exposure System with the Double Tri-Loc, operators can burn two same-size screens at once. Cost-effective and easy to use, Tri-Locs can reduce setup time by as much as 95%, says M&R.
Dryers
M&R's textile dryer line includes the new HeatWave. Economical to operate, M&R says HeatWave is its most affordable gas textile dryer, bridging the gap between M&R's infrared dryers and the Sprint line of high-performance gas dryers. It features M&R's high-efficiency gas-dryer technology, 91 cm (36") belt width, 259 cm (8' 6") heat chamber length, and a new control-panel that uses icons instead of text to control dryer operation.
It's also energy efficient, says M&R, with heavy-duty thermal insulation that prevents heat from migrating into the workplace and CoolSkin technology to leave the dryer skin cool to the touch. Fast cure rates and high product throughput maximise dryer capacity and minimise per-unit cost, making it ideal for small to mid-size shops.
