MHM Direct
Quality and innovation
Published:  04 April, 2008

John Potter, director of the UK MHM dealer MHM Direct, outlines the key features of MHM machinery and equipment, and the benefits of using MHM Direct:

Leading brand names such as The MHM Group - Austria, Calmat Flash Cure Units, Newman Roller Frames and more recently Adelco have placed their trust in MHM Direct to represent their world class range of products within the UK & Eire markets, says Potter.

Experience

Established in 1980, The MHM Group - Austria, has grown to become one of the largest and most respected manufacturers of screenprinting machinery and equipment in the industry with successful installations in over 70 countries worldwide.

At MHM Direct, there is over half a century of combined experience in the Screenprinting industry. Potter claims that for every one of its competitor's machines in the UK, there are around 10 MHM machines, providing a positive, safe and secure reference for future customers.

Innovation

Designing its machinery to incorporate the latest innovative technology from the beginning has always been MHM's passion, rather than working out ways to ‘add-on' or improve ‘old technology'.

Centralised off-contact adjustment, automatic registration with job memory, high speed AC Servo driven indexing, AC electric printing heads, sequential start/stop (load in/out) and sample print, push button ‘instant' pallet changing, quick release squeegees and floodbars, rod-less pneumatic cylinders and touch screen command units are just a few of the pioneering innovations associated with MHM.

Superior build quality

As well as innovative features, Potter says MHM machinery has achieved worldwide recognition from a large number of industry professionals including award-winning Screenprinters for its robust construction, superior performance and reliability. MHM uses only top grade materials and the minimum of moving parts to ensure good longevity and sound reliability. Its presses are designed with immense integral strength and stability, eliminating the need as with some machinery for the print heads to be bolted to the floor.

"Customers often comment how smooth and quiet MHM machines run during operation, and how pleasant it is to be able to hear the radio and listen to their own choice of music whilst working," says the company. "A far cry from the constant whine of Bill Hayley and the Comets, an all time favourite with lesser machines (Shake, Rattle & Roll, in case you hadn't guessed!)."

All MHM equipment is fully assembled at MHM Austria's state-of-the-art manufacturing facility prior to shipment and released only after extensive testing and inspection, maintaining the strictest quality control procedures available.

Metric specification parts, fittings and components

All MHM machines are designed and built to metric specifications, meaning the majority of parts, fittings and components are readily available throughout Europe. This is often a major problem with machinery built outside the EC and one which is often overlooked, claims Potter.

Value for money

According to Potter, all MHM Screen Printing Machines "come ‘feature rich and fully loaded' with no hidden extras".

"Its high-tech robotic production processes and investment in its ultra-modern manufacturing facility in Erl, Austria, have allowed its machinery prices to remain extremely stable in the world market, with little or no change for almost a decade," he says.

Continuity of supply

Over the past decade there have been many changes in the Screenprinting Industry between manufacturers and dealers, says Potter. "The result is that existing customers are often left with a great deal of worry and confusion regarding spare part availability and technical service, not to mention the effect on the residual value of their equipment.

"MHM Direct is proud to offer unparalleled continuity of service for the past decade, offering a small but extremely focused range of world leading products, all with an excellent track record and solid reputation. Our portfolio of products includes only the leading brand names in the industry."

MHM Direct also offers a full range of spare parts and a technical service by factory-trained technicians, both from the UK and Austria.

No time zone complications

"The time zone difference between the UK and Austria is just one hour, enabling both customers and ourselves to contact MHM directly at almost any time during normal UK working hours, without any delay," explains Potter, who suggests: "Before investing in new machinery, check the time zone difference between yourself and the manufacturer. A good dealer may be able to solve the majority of technical issues, but there will always be a time when you may wish to speak directly with the manufacturer. An experienced dealer or service technician may also need to speak with the manufacturer from time to time, especially during an emergency."

Upgradeable operating software

All current MHM machines have an update port, allowing customers to upload the latest operating software onto their equipment in a matter of minutes, explains Potter. Software updates are made available via the website for immediate download, enabling existing MHM customers to benefit from the very latest ‘future proof' developments.

"With ever increasing artwork complexity combined with the rigours and demands of the modern printshop, not to mention the frequent advances in ink technology, can you afford to invest in a machine without this ‘future proof' upgrade facility?" he asks.

GOTO Automatic registration system

Introduced over a decade ago, there is nothing else like it on the market, claims Potter. "Proven worldwide as the fastest set-up system available, MHM's state-of-the-art ‘GOTO' Automatic Registration System will dramatically reduce your set-up times," it says. "On ANY multi-colour job, irrespective of how many colours, the operator need only register the first screen on the press. By simply pressing a ‘GOTO' button on the print head, all the remaining screens are then driven into precisely the correct position by incredibly accurate step motors.

"Complete with the ability to store the entire production data for an unlimited number of your most frequent designs (including the actual screen positions); repeat production will also become a pleasure."

For ultimate flexibility, this data can also be downloaded onto a USB stick and used to set-up other MHM Synchroprint 4000's in the print shop.

Energy efficient

All MHM machines have a remarkably low compressed air requirement, allowing customers to safeguard against the extra investment, running costs and noise associated with running large compressors, whilst improving their operator environment, says Potter.

Furthermore, all MHM E-Type and S-Type machines are designed to run on a single-phase electricity supply, further reducing the impact on the environment.

Access to finance

MHM Direct has a specialist broker with over 20 years' experience and knowledge of the textile industry and its finance needs. It works closely with customers to identify their specific requirements and provide an appropriate solution.

As a principal lender and respected broker, it is able to offer MHM Direct customers access to over 30 lending institutions and a variety of financial products, with an underwriting decision often being available the same day.

"From new start ventures to majors PLCs - when financing the purchase of your new MHM machinery or equipment, one simple call is all you need," says Potter.

Seminars and courses

Once a machine has been installed, Potter says MHM is keen to maintain a relationship with its customers and so it provides hands-on technical training seminars, along with preventative maintenance and troubleshooting courses at its high-tech Austrian based manufacturing facility. These courses are available to both new and existing MHM customers.

Information highway

Clear and concise information on the entire range of products is available via the website http://www.mhmdirect.co.uk/

As well as viewing the detailed technical specifications on all the new machinery, customers can also download current brochures and view video feeds of the equipment in action. A good selection of used machinery is also available and frequently updated.

A special member's area is also available for MHM customers to download software upgrades for their machinery, making sure they stay on top of technology, whilst protecting their investment.

Future web projects for the UK include a 24-hour online parts ordering facility.
