ETC Embroidery Supplies has launched a several new products, including anti wet patches, a soft interlining, a heat soluble backing, and a ring mark remover.
Soft & Dry Anti Wet Patches
This product is used to waterproof the inside of an embroidered fabric. The patches are manufactured from a special non-woven fabric with a waterproof membrane.
The patch is simply ironed over the back of the embroidery once completed and the backing has been removed. The low temperature coating will adhere to most fabrics successfully and will even withstand machine washing.
"This is a quick and easy way to make the embroidery waterproof again," said MD Jas Purba. "It is a very common complaint amongst those people who wear embroidered waterproof clothing that the embroidery has a constant dampness on the inside. Unlike other products on the market, because the patch is applied to the inside of the garment you do not change the appearance of the embroidery from the front or leave any shiny residue on the surface of the fabric."
The patches are also very soft so they do not change the drape or handle of the garment, he adds. They are currently sold in 12cm squares, but can be supplied to the customer's own specification.
Fabulon Ring mark remover
"Our customers call this the Miracle Spray," says Purba. "Yes you may be currently using water, wet wipes or ironing the garment, but the Fabulon spay is much better and faster."
To use, remove the garment from the frame and spray the ring mark with Fabulon. In seconds the mark will disappear and your garment is ready for packing, says Purba. If the mark is very stubborn, then after spraying you can gently wipe it with your finger and it will disappear.
This product works on all fabrics and colours.
Skin Soft
This is a lightweight soft knitted fusible interlining that has an engineered stretch that allows it to move with the fabric. It is used to prevent the embroidery thread and or backing rubbing on the skin.
The product was developed as a solution for a major store group who had embroidered garments from the far east that were causing irritation to the wearer of the garment.
It is applied by a standard iron or heat press. The backing is first removed and then the Skin Soft is applied onto the back of the embroidery. Skin Soft does not interfere with the drape or handle of the fabric.
Heat-Sol
Heat-Sol is a heat soluble backing that is especially developed for use on lightweight and shear fabrics, such as ladies' blouses. The product has one side with a raised dimple effect, which is placed next to the fabric during framing. This prevents the fabric from moving during the embroidery.
The Heat Sol is used in place of the regular backing and has great stability, says Purba. "When you have finished doing the embroidery you simply tear away the Heat Sol and whatever is left will disappear by using a hand iron or heat press."
Benefits include:
- No backing is left showing on the embroidery
- Gives a very flat finish on the underside of the embroidery
- Easy to remove without pulling the embroidery through the fabric
- Excellent stitch retention
