As part of its ongoing investment in technology and the latest embroidery techniques, Gymphlex has extended its embroidery department to 24 heads.
This includes an 8-head embroidery machine, which gives customers the opportunity to use up to 15 colours at one time - creating logos and designs on any garment, either from Gymphlex's extensive product range or provided by the client. The machine can also store designs for up to 200 patterns, a real benefit to larger organisations who need to place regular repeat orders, reducing the turnaround of the garments. Embroidery manager Helen Wilberforce said: "We are continually enhancing our embroidery services and developing new techniques to improve the service we can offer our customer. Over the last 12 months we have been experimenting with embroidery on different fabrics, for example Lycra. In addition we have also been increasing our range of badging techniques, using different backing options to create different effects."
Schools have long utilised embroidery to add badges and school logos to uniforms, but in recent years Gymphlex has also noted an increase in small businesses seeking to improve the image of the staff through the use of embroidery. Beauty Salons in particular are using Gymphlex's embroidery service to enhance uniforms, choosing to add logos, badges or names, it says.
Although Gymphlex continues to use polyester based embroidery threads, its prime thread is Rayon as this represents the most widely used thread across the industry, it states. This improves manufacturing as thread colours remain consistent and the properties of the thread mean that it will not fade, is colour fast and can be easily cared for.
