Fabric Technology - Keep cool with hot new brand
New brand Coolactive is now available through UKL. We found out more about the range and the Coolmax fabric technology, which until now was the preserve of leading retail brands like Nike, Adidas and Puma

Keeping your cool in challenging physical conditions is the key to improving performance, says Coolactive, a new sports and leisurewear clothing brand for the promotional and print wear sector, launched by the group behind the premium performance fabric Coolmax.

Coolactive has been launched into the printwear market following the success of the Coolmax fabric in other markets, as business development manager Richard Nyman explains: "We spotted a gap in this market for everyday and sports wear garments items using our intelligent fabrics.

"The use of the Coolmax performance fabric will be unique in this market and will set Coolactive apart from other brands."

Initially, the range will include T-Shirts, vests and polo shirts, but new products are already under development.

Coolactive joins UKL stable

The range of Coolactive products will be available from stock as of March exclusively through UK distributor UKL.

Coolmax technology

"Coolmax is a uniquely engineered high tech fabric to keep users dry and comfortable," explains Nyman. "Coolmax fabrics are made from specially engineered polyester fibres with an increased surface area."

Orginally developed to meet the needs of top class athletes; the Coolmax brand has been well established in the sports and retail sectors for over 17 years and is used in the manufacture of sportswear, leisurewear, workwear and underwear.

The special four-channel or six-channel fibre forms a transport system that pulls moisture away from the skin to the outer layer of the fabric. It then dries that moisture faster than any other fabric and thermoregulates the body, says Nyman.

Consumers who demand enhanced performance from their apparel for their active lifestyles will find that Coolmax Active keeps them cooler than other fabrics. Coolmax actually moves sweat away from the body to the fabric's outer surface, where it can evaporate quickly.

"This thermoregulatory effect helps consumers stay drier and more comfortable," says Nyman, "whether you're wearing Coolactive for extreme sport, active wear or just everyday needs."

He adds: ""Coolactive is unique for the printwear and promotional industry - we are in the strong position of owning the technology and producing the fabric, which is why we can be so competitive on price."
