The fruits of learning
Published:  07 April, 2005

Fruit of the Loom has launched Schoolwear 2005, a new mini brochure containing full details of the company's schoolwear offering, and tell Printwear & Promotion more about it.

Fruit of the Loom has published a fully illustrated mini brochure detailing its full range of schoolwear products, as part of a nationwide promotion that will target every school in the UK and Ireland.

Fruit of the Loom will be mailing the brochure to more than 30,000 schools in total. The company is also making available a Decorators' Support Pack, which will include a CD containing all of the photography featured in the mini brochure for schoolwear suppliers to use, free of charge, in their own marketing materials.

The eight-page, A5 brochure carries in-depth product information and specifications on ten Fruit of the Loom Junior styles, including the new Valueweight Toddler T (available to fit nursery school children aged 1-2 and 2-3 years).

Each garment is shown with a mock School crest to underscore its suitability for school uniforms and sportswear, and is modelled by children engaged in familiar school activities. For example, a young girl is shown wearing the Junior 65/35 Polo as she colours a drawing in a classroom setting, while elsewhere the girl and another pupil are shown enjoying a music lesson dressed in Fruit of the Loom Junior sweatshirts.

Other Juniors products featured within the new brochure include : the Raglan Sweat (available in 11 colours and continuous sizes from 3-4 - 14-15 years); the Outdoor Fleece and Zip Through Hooded Sweatshirt, (hard wearing styles that gain instant credibility amongst pupils); the Hooded Sweat and Jog Pants, (the ideal combination for school sports), and two 100% cotton T-shirt styles - the Original T (135/145 gm/m2) and Valueweight T (160/165 gm/m2).

Viewed together, the garments form a comprehensive, integrated schoolwear proposition that delivers both long-term reliable performance and value.

The Schools Promotion aims to educate schools with regard to the numerous advantages of choosing Fruit of the Loom schoolwear. The contents pages explain that the company's core T-shirts and sweatshirts are made at Fruit of the Loom's own vertically integrated manufacturing plants, which allows for greater control over quality throughout the production process, plus the enforcing of the highest ethical and environmental standards.

(Every garment is Oeko-Tex approved, which guarantees that no environmentally harmful substances are used at any stage of production).

The brochure goes on to highlight Fruit of the Loom's extensive in-house testing of garments for durability, and how the company's dyeing technology leads the industry for colour consistency. It points out that Fruit of the Loom schoolwear offers excellent value for money, and invites the schools to check this for themselves by asking their regular supplier for a comparable quote for Fruit of the Loom garments next time they place

an order.

In addition to the CD containing the brochure photographs, the Decorators' Support Pack includes a copy of both the Schools Promotion brochure and the main Fruit of the Loom Catalogue 2005, copies of the company's Oeko-Tex certificate and Code of Conduct, plus a sales presenter giving information on the company, wash instructions for the garments and additional product details. The pack is available on request from Fruit of

the Loom Customer Services.

Fruit of the Loom is emphasising that the new Schools Promotion is intended to support its customers in selling more Fruit of the Loom branded products into the schoolwear market.

The brochure directs schools to contact their usual schoolwear supplier to find out more about the Fruit of the Loom products, and any enquiries that Fruit of the Loom receives directly from schools will be forwarded to local suppliers.

'Our inaugural nationwide Schools Promotion, in 2003, was a major success, presenting the advantages of Fruit of the Loom products to every school in the UK and Ireland,' comments Alison Woodvine. 'The Schools Promotion 2005 will once again help to secure new business for Fruit of the Loom schoolwear suppliers by promoting the exceptional value products and services that they have to offer.'
