Let me start this issue by wishing you all a very Happy New Year. I trust you all enjoyed a break over Christmas and, like me, are returning to work bright eyed and bushy tailed and not just a few pounds heavier?!
And let's not forget the New Year's Resolutions that we all insist on making: no chocolate/alcohol/fun and more exercise/healthy food/early nights - as if January wasn't difficult enough already!
For me, the New Year begins with a new picture (mother's orders) so I thought that seeing as we're on the subject of healthier, happier people for 2008 I'd use this one taken alongside the River Spey in Scotland on a frosty Christmas Day. And it's got nothing to do with the fact my dog is in the picture… honest!
But seriously, the New Year really is a time when we can all, businesses included, wipe the slate clean and start afresh with renewed vigour and enthusiasm. With this in mind, the January issue brings you a couple of articles aimed at making sure you set off on the right track: one on page 80 from trade association PROMOTA, which suggests some resolutions for your business; and another from Paul Clapham on page 61, which gives the industry's view on the year ahead - from the horse's mouth, so to speak.
Paul's article paints a positive picture for the coming year in the promotional industry and looks at some of the issues and trends that are likely to shape it. Staying with the subject of trends, our focus feature on 'What's New '08' is a comprehensive round-up of all the latest styles and collections from the manufacturers and distributors - it should certainly keep you busy for a few days!
Starting on page 27 there is also a review of the 2008 brochures, giving you all the vital information on who's doing what and in what format.
This bumper issue also contains the first in a new series of troubleshooting articles from Victory Design's Glynn Denton. The series is designed to answer all your common production problems in a technical and detailed way, starting with a look at which garment foil to choose. Please get in touch if you have any suggestions for articles or areas you would like to see covered in this section.
Well, that’s about all from me for now. Good luck with all your New Year’s Resolutions, and here’s to a prosperous 2008. Cheers....ooops, I forgot, we’re off alcohol aren’t we?
