M&R Sets World Record
Published:  07 April, 2005

On 18 February 2005, M&R established a world record for shirts printed in one hour by a single operator.

The new record, 1805 shirts, was set at the 2005 Image Wear Expo in Orlando, Florida. Working alone, Maddie Sikorski used a 12-colour Formula 2000 and a Passport Automatic Textile Unloader to produce 1807 4-colour shirts in one hour.

Amazingly, there were only two misprints, so the record stands at 1805 shirts per hour. Maddie, who played an integral part in M&R's recent Print Challenge victory, was on loan from New Buffalo Shirt Factory in Buffalo, New York.

Jon Weiss, founder and CEO of New Buffalo, said, 'Every day, Maddie operates Formulas at speeds in excess of 1200 shirts per hour; she's the best of the best.'

Rich Hoffman, M&R CEO, commended M&R's partner in the record-setting achievement. 'New Buffalo has relied on a fleet of Formulas for years, and Jon and his team continue to achieve results in quality and productivity that are nothing short of phenomenal.'

Hoffman went on to say, 'Maddie's record shows what can be achieved when the best operators work with the best equipment. It also shows the critical importance innovative technology plays in the most successful screen printing operations. The single-operator record set by Maddie would simply not have been possible without the Passport, and the tremendous output and exceptional misprint rate would not have been possible with any other press. Working together, Formula and Passport provide a competitive edge that can't be obtained any other way.'

'These results also demonstrate how screen printers in Europe and the US can use automation to compete head-to-head with offshore operations,' Hoffman concluded.

The 12-color Formula and the Passport Unloader were previously dry-cycled at 2304 shirts-per-hour, exceeding human loading capabilities Photos and video clips can be seen at http://www.mrprint.com/mrprint/speedrecord/.
