Established in 1990, UK Leisurewear (UKL) specialises in the distribution of leisurewear and associated products to the print, embroidery and retail trades.
Over the years the business has grown from strength to strength, going from an initial two brands and 20 products lines to over 34 brands and more than 1,200 different product lines.
UKL recognises the importance of regularly reflecting upon the business’s activities to improve and deliver the best service possible. Last year, UKL saw an increase in both its customers and sales and, in order to help perpetuate this growth, decided that this was the perfect time to develop the organisation.
UKL md Tracy Richards says: “2007 was a year of improvement for UKL.We began the year with the objective of adapting the business to ensure smooth growth for the future. As part of our programme of developments, we undertook the considerable task of re-arranging our full warehouse operation that also included the bar-coding of every stock location.”
Although this was not a simple job, it was one that the team thought was necessary in order to help ensure longevity of UKL’s success.
In 2008, Richards is determined that UKL will continue to both progress and develop. She says: “There are plenty of new and exciting plans to roll out; we have several new brands to deliver for 2008, along with new website initiatives, a loyalty scheme, and our very first inhouse trade show, January 17-18 2008.”
UKL is also planning to embrace the trend for ethical products and production, as Richards explains: “We will be focusing on our environmental and ethical policy throughout the year in order to keep up to date with those topics that really matter to our customers in the printwear and promotion industry.”
Of course, the most important people in this industry are the customers, and UKL places great importance on the relationship that it has with its customers. Richards says: “There is so little that is unique in this industry, so our sales and customer service teams ensure that extra special point of contact. We intend to retain our positive approach to sales and service. We continually strive to deliver excellence in customer service and this will remain our resolution throughout 2008.”
It is clear that UKL is excited about the possibilities and opportunities that 2008 will hold. In order to make this year as successful as possible for them, the company is determined to remain as proactive and approachable as possible.
Richards confirms: “Here at UKL we will combine the impressive relationship that we have with our customers with fresh innovation and increased brands in 2008. All in all, we have many new concepts to unroll as the year develops and are very much looking forward to bringing our customers along on the ride!”
