Westford Mill launches Jute Shoppers

Westford Mill, the value bag brand, is adding two Jute shopping bags to its 2008 collection. Both styles offer a stylish natural alternative to disposable plastic shopping bags, and are priced and specified to target the high volume end of the promotional bags market.

The W401 Jute Shopper Tote is made from 160 gsm fabric, measures 42 x 38 cm, and has a capacity of 12 litres. The larger W402 Jute Shoulder Shopper is made from heavier weight 230 gsm fabric, measures 42.5 x 39 x 14 cm, and has a capacity of 20 litres. The W402’s longer carrying straps allow it to be carried in the hand, or over the shoulder.

A relation of the hemp plant, jute is one of the strongest of the natural fibres. A rain-fed crop, it requires little or no fertiliser or pesticides and is 100% biodegradable. Jute also is an incredibly versatile fibre that has been used for centuries to make a wide range of hardwearing textile products, including coarse weave hessian sacks and fine weave consumer bags.

Both bags can be customised and printed in the usual ways, says Westford Mill, making them suitable for a wide variety of promotional uses. Their durable properties mean that they will withstand long-term repeated use, maximising the exposure of any branding.
