Many dedicated sportswear brands feature in PenCarrie’s catalogue. Some specialise in particular sports such as golf or cricket: names such as Ashworth, Callaway Golf, Glenmuir and Finden + Hales come to mind. Tombo, one of few brands to provide complete football kit for adults and for children, is much in demand at this time of year, for school teams and for football clubs from pub to county level.
Sportswear from internationally renowned rugby brand Canterbury is also selling well this season, for general sports purposes and not just rugby. Kustom Kit’s Gamegear collection is another to note. The Slazenger brand is also available from PenCarrie and has a steady following within the promotional clothing market.
Commenting on particular styles, David Abrahams, marketing manager at PenCarrie, says: “Tracksuits continue to be the very best sellers yearon- year.” Tombo’s TL40 Tracksuit is especially popular, he reports. This comes in five colourways and in a wide range of sizes from XS to XXL and has all the features you expect in professional standard sportswear. Tombo’s TL47 Tracksuit Pants, offered in four plain colours including white, are available separately. They are useful as spares and provide valuable add-on sales for decorators, says Abrahams.
“Tracksuit pants are a staple sportswear item in their own right,” comments Abrahams. In addition to Tombo’s TL47, PenCarrie offers a number of styles from a variety of brands These include Canterbury’s CN90 Stadium Pants, which have extra long, thighhigh, side leg zips.
The Kustom Kit Gamegear range, which PenCarrie stocks in its entirety, is a good multi-purpose sportswear collection for men, women and children with a number of straightforward styles, says PenCarrie. The K175 Gamegear Short Sleeve Team Shirt, for example, is a button-through style with contrast collar, a contrast panel down shoulders and sleeves, contrast back yoke, and contrast trim on the left chest pocket. Popular with pub darts teams, it comes in seven colourways and in sizes S–3XL.
“Football kit is also amongst this season’s top sellers,” says Abrahams. “Tombo has cornered the market here, with a range that is both comprehensive and robust.” Tombo’s TL31 Piped Football Shorts, TL02 Raglan Football Shirt and TL20 Football Socks, all in a selection of co-ordinating colourways, are one combination that sells well as a set. Tombo’s TL90 Mesh Training Bib makes team identification in practice sessions quick and easy and is a useful component of team wear. The mesh bib has contrast colour fabric patches back and front and is reversible, with patches in a different colour on the reverse.
Rugby teamwear from legendary brand Canterbury also sells well as general sportswear over the winter months, according to PenCarrie. A total of eight Canterbury sports garments are available, including the CN60 Long Sleeve Cold Base Layer and CN61 Long Sleeve Hot Base Layer. “These tops are technical in their construction. They are bought for all sorts of sporting activities, including running, hockey, and netball, as well as for rugby and football,” explains Abrahams.
Base layer tops are worn under the main sports shirt. Canterbury’s CN60 Cold Base Layer is worn in cold weather and CN61 Hot Base Layer is for hot weather wear. The garments should be heat seal transfer printed, ideally with the name or logo appearing on the left outer forearm (to be visible when the sports shirt is worn over the base layer).
