Fruit of the Loom reports that the introduction of bright orange and bright yellow colours to its popular Windbreaker and College Jacket outerwear styles is generating a wealth of new sales opportunities, many from unexpected quarters.
The Bright colours, which are new in 2007, complement the original core corporate colour palette of navy, bottle green, red and black. They were introduced to help Fruit of the Loom customers target the needs of the large volume workwear market.
“As anticipated, sales into the workwear sector have been excellent,” Alison Woodvine, European Brand Manager, comments. “The new colours make the Windbreaker and, in particular, the Bright Yellow College Jacket an ideal choice when a good value, easy to decorate, highly conspicuous item of staff outerwear is required.” She emphasises that whilst the new colours are highly visible the jackets are not reflective, and are not intended to meet the specific safety wear requirements of workers operating in and around traffic.
The appeal of the new colours is not limited to workwear, however; Fruit of the Loom advises that the jackets are also generating a healthy demand in the sports and promotional sectors of the marketplace. “The Bright Yellow Windbreaker is proving a popular choice for sports, and running clubs in particular, offering highly visible, lightweight outerwear that is also showerproof. The Bright Orange Windbreaker is a big hit in the promotional market, where ‘brights’ are all the rage at present. The Bright Orange colour gives the jackets incredible standout properties: the garment is virtually impossible to miss and all but guarantees to get your promotional message noticed.”
The Fruit of the Loom Windbreaker and College Jacket are designed to offer maximum value for volume outerwear customers. The garments are competitively priced, yet finished to an impressively high standard says Fruit of the Loom: for example, all trims, including zips, eyelets and drawcords, are precisely colour-matched; the showerproof outer shell has been extensively tested for compatibility with the leading brands of screen printing inks for nylon fabrics; and the lined College Jacket has zip access for printing and embroidery. Both styles incorporate a concealed nylon hood, drawcords to hood and waist, and two jetted pockets. The College jacket also features a lining in 65% polyester/35% cotton (150 gm/m2) for extra comfort and insulation. Both jackets come in sizes S-XXL. The Kids College Jacket, in sizes 5/6 - 14/15 years, and six colours is also available.
