The company provides jackets to service many areas of trade, from corporate uniforms and workwear, to areas such as motor sport teams, drinks companies, telecommunications firms and football/rugby clubs to name but a few.

Boost Up has provided its clients with promotional, corporate and workwear jackets since 1991 and has recently opened a new factory in Xiamen. The five-floor construction with 8,500 sq metres of floor space houses approximately 400 sewing machines and around 600 staff. “This enables us to increase our capacity and gives us greater flexibility with production schedules,” says Boost Up. “All our factories are ISO 9001:2000 certified and also work towards the SA8000 certification for working conditions.”

Boost Up claims to bring a “genuine and competitive alternative” to the market, with a commitment to performance, innovation and quality. “Wearing a Boost Up garment ensures that you benefit from leading fabric technology, innovative design, style and above all, a commitment to quality that will be recognised by your customers, giving you the reputation for supplying the best product available,” it says. “It is important to us that when wearing a jacket with the Boost Up label it is perfect for the type of use it is likely to get.”

The company uses the latest technology to make sure its fabrics are up to date, being breathable, waterproof and shower resistant. Fabrics used are nylon, polyester, micro fibre, ripstop and micro polar fleece. This year it has also added Teflon coating (by DuPont) to its micro fibre products, and jackets always carry the Oeko-Tex standard 100 swing ticket, indicating that all fabrics are tested for harmful substances. Furthermore, a wide range of stock styles is available for quick delivery, whether plain or branded.

A bespoke service is also available, working from an initial design concept to provide a finished, delivered custom manufactured product, which is “professionally and expertly handled from start to finish” says Boost Up. “It is no longer possible to just offer ‘off the shelf’ products,” adds the company. “Buyers are becoming more aware that the bespoke service is more readily available to them and are willing to view this option as a possible solution to their requirements.

“As the manufacturer, our possibilities of personalisation are almost endless and will give you the chance to meet your client’s most particular demands. First we will supply you with the design concepts as part of our service from an initial brief. This will normally take up to one week and will help show to your client that you are serious about their order.We can also supply you with fabric swatches to show them what they can expect from the finished garment.”

Once the design has been approved Boost Up can offer a sampling service, which normally takes two weeks to complete. A sample is provided on the placement of an order subject to sample approval. “Our commitment to your order is important to us and by placing an order you are showing that you are serious about using our service,” says Boost Up. Therefore, if a sample is produced and no final order is forthcoming, there will be a nominal charge for the sample. Production will be confirmed after sample approval. Production schedules can vary depending on the time of the year, says Boost Up. “As we are growing internationally our factories are busy throughout the year and lead times are a consideration that needs to be realised. Our normal production lead times are 30-45 days.We can ship directly to you which is normally always the case or offer to liaise with your own shipping agent if you prefer. Shipping times are approximately four weeks by sea. We do offer the option of shipping by air but this service comes at a premium and is normally only used for shorter lead times.

“Even with small quantities (150 pcs) you can offer your client a product in total accordance with their brand image, with personalisation such as embroideries, colour assortments, reflecting tapes, engraved buttons, zipper pullers or even inside labels.”

Boost Up offers quality assurance through working on its own products and operating its own factories. A wide range of fabrics and colours are held in stock and both small and large orders can be catered for.

Pantone colour matching is also available, but due to the minimum dye lot for fabric the minimums are much higher – normally 500 depending on the style of jacket. Boost Up offers everything from customising the garment to supplying custom swing tickets, packaging and printed boxes.

In terms of what customisation people require, the most popular still tends to be the simplest, says Boost Up – own neck labels and zip pulls etc. “This is mainly due to clients being unfamiliar with what’s available to them. But we will help you through the vast options open to you.”

If customisation is not required, Boost Up’s stock styles are chosen carefully so styles and colours fit in with all areas of the market. Classic, plain styles with the emphasis on quality and functionality are key to the range and all stock jackets have zip through access to enable easy decoration with embroidery, printing, heat transfers and appliqués.

All styles carry the Boost Up label and a variety of fabrics are used, combined with taped seams for increased water resistance on some models.
