Welcome to this month’s issue – and what a jam-packed one it is! I had so much information this month (thank you) it was a struggle fitting it all in, but I did my best.
So much has happened in the last month it’s hard to know where to begin. At the start of the month we had FESPA, which was a new experience for me and certainly a valuable insight into the workings of the industry. Information on new product launches at the show is still coming in, so keep an eye out for it in coming issues and on our website, www.printwearandpromotion.co.uk.
One of the new launches did make it into this issue, however, and that is the new WOW transfer paper from TheMagicTouch. Hopefully those of you who were at FESPA managed to locate TheMagicTouch stand (somewhat disguised as a Hawiian beach bar, though I’m sure that wouldn’t have put you off!) and saw for yourself the new technology. If you didn’t, our feature on page 18 should put you in the picture. I have to say that when Tony and I saw a demonstration recently, the first thing we both said was “wow”, so they’ve definitely got the name right!
Also this month we announced the launch of the new Printwear & Promotion annual awards ceremony for the industry, something we are all very excited about here. Full details of this and how you can get involved can be found on page 12, but suffice to say, it promises to be a glittering event and well worth getting on board for early.
Sadly, as you may or may not know by now, at the end of June we said goodbye to our advertisment manager, Tony Oliver, who by now, will probably be sunning himself on an exotic beach somewhere on his much-deserved retirement. I only worked with Tony for five months, but I’d just like to say to him now that it really was a pleasure and I know I speak for the rest of the team when I say he will be missed. Good luck Tony, don’t forget us!
But it’s not all bad news – his replacement, Tony Gardner, has been with us for a few weeks now, as the ‘old’ Tony shows him the ropes, and brings with him a wealth of experience. He has already been out and about with the ‘old’ Tony and I’m sure he’ll be very busy in the coming weeks getting to know the industry, but I hope he is already beginning to feel settled in.
Finally, it was a pleasure this month to receive a letter from Skillfast-UK (see page 10), which raises some interesting points about the industry and how you, the readers, can get involved in shaping its future, so do have a read. And, as always, we welcome all your views and news, so keep them coming in.
Well, that’s more than enough from me.
Enjoy the issue!
