Datateam Publishing has appointed Tony Gardner as advertisement manager on Printwear & Promotion to replace Tony Oliver, who retired at the end of June.
Tony joins the company from Essential Publishing where he spent five years as advertisement manager on Your Home magazine. Prior to this he held sales positions on a number of leading publications serving the house and home markets, including New Homes and the Evening Standard’s Homes & Property magazine. His move into advertising sales followed time spent in various marketing roles within two of the largest logistics and material handling companies in the UK.
The ‘new’ Tony spent several weeks shadowing the ‘old’ Tony as he prepared to hand over the reins and settle into his long awaited and much deserved retirement.
Publishing Director, Andrew Castle said: “We are naturally very sad to see Tony Oliver leave the business, as he has been a loyal and respected member of staff for many years.
“He has worked extremely hard during the past five years to maintain Printwear & Promotion’s position as the leading publication, and latterly has been instrumental in helping to drive through the magazine’s new look and feel.
“His knowledge of the market and his relaxed and friendly approach to the people working within it has been of great benefit to clients and colleagues alike and he will be greatly missed.”
Castle added: “As for his replacement, we are delighted to have someone of Tony’s calibre join the team and bring with him such a wealth of experience.
“In many ways the ‘new’ Tony is very similar to the ‘old’ Tony, so he should be able to quickly take over the role with the minimum of disruption before bringing his own skill and knowledge to bear. And perhaps in time, he might be helped in his endeavours by his predecessor who, once he has spent a few months travelling the world visiting family and friends, could well be back to assist in some special projects.”
The appointment comes hot on the heals of several key development initiatives for Printwear & Promotion, including a move back to A4 in size; a new masthead design; improved paper quality; a new look and feel to the editorial pages; and an increased circulation, which now boasts a 100% individually requested readership.
A brand new industry Awards Programme, with an Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner taking place during the 2008 Printwear & Promotion Exhibition next March, has also just been announced (see 'The Printwear & promotion Industry Awards & Gala Dinner' story for details).
With its supporting activities, the magazine is ideally set for continued growth and development, and the new advertisement manager is looking forward to the many opportunities that lie ahead.
