Karn, who was presented with the award at the recent Promotional Marketing Exhibition in London, is the first person to receive this award for dedication to the industry. She has worked in the industry for 28 years and previously held roles of chairman and then president of the BPMA.

Her major achievements include the launch of the association website, organising an annual trade delegation to Hong Kong and raising the profile of the association throughout Europe. In 2002 she went on to become the president of the BPMA and continues working to promote high standards of conduct and ethical trading within the industry.

The Victor Rosewell Award was created following the death of the highly respected figure in the promotional merchandise industry in December 2006. Rosewell was a prominent member of the BPMA throughout the 1980s, having built a successful career in the optics sector selling cameras and binoculars for use in sales promotions, including supplying 10,000 pairs of binoculars for a promotion with Heinz.

In 1991 he was made a Fellow of the BPMA and awarded the Association’s Sword of Honour. His success and untimely death inspired the creation of this new award, which will recognise outstanding contributions to the industry.

Karn said: “I was fortunate enough to have known Victor and feel highly honoured to have received this tremendous accolade. It is great to be recognised for the work that I have given to the industry over the course of my career, from building a successful business of my own to representing the interests of the industry as a whole, through my work with the BPMA.”
