Two new slim fit shirts are the headline styles in Fruit of the Loom’s summer 2007 menswear collection.

The Slim Fit Polo and Slim Fit T are designed specifically for men and are heavily inspired by current trends in retail, with both styles featuring subtly shaped side seams for a closer, more athletic cut.

Soft-to-the-touch cotton/elastane blend fabrics complement the tighter fit: they are inherently stretchy, boast excellent shape retention, and are on a par with similar fabrics available on the high street, says Fruit of the Loom. Both shirts also have a slightly shorter body length compared with traditional full cut men’s Ts and polos to further enhance their fashionable appearance.

Alison Woodvine, European brand manager, says: “Our new men’s promotional wear is moving ever closer to retail, whilst maintaining its broad, long-term appeal and suitability for all types of embellishment. The new Slim Fit styles perfectly complement our current Lady-Fit Polo and T-shirt collections creating a modern, coordinated offering for men and women.”

Alison points out that the cut and fit of the new polo and T-shirt will have strong appeal for younger and more body-conscious target audiences, in particular. “There is still a strong demand for relaxed activewear, especially amongst consumers looking to create a layered look. However, there is a growing emphasis on the ‘skinny’ look among young, fashion-conscious men. With the launch of the Slim Fit Polo and T, garment decorators can now cater for all requirements.”

She adds that the new styles are especially well suited for stag parties, own-label retail, men’s health promotions, club wear, drinks and magazine promotions, and band/record label merchandise.

The Slim Fit Polo is a heavyweight style made from a 97% cotton/3% elastane, (210/220 gm/m2), pique fabric with a contemporary twobutton placket. It is available in five colours, including this summer’s ‘must-have’ men’s colour choice – classic olive. The Slim Fit T boasts a new 95% cotton/5%elsatane, (175/185 gm/m2), single jersey fabric. The extra elastane content provides added stretch and recovery, for long-term shape retention, says Fruit of the Loom. Details include the narrow, relaxed-cut neckline featuring self-fabric binding in place of the usual rib knit neckband, while colours include classic olive, kiwi and orange.

Fruit of the Loom stocks a comprehensive collection of men’s corporate and promotional wear, including: 12 long and short sleeve Tshirt styles; an athletics vest; eight polo shirt designs; sweatshirts, hoodies, jog pants and sweat jackets; fleece and microfleece styles, (including the new men’s Micro Jacket); plus shower-resistant outerwear. The collection also includes the new range of men’s work shirts, which includes long and short sleeve styles in a choice of cotton/polyester blend fabrics. The majority of the menswear garments have a matching Lady-Fit style, for customers seeking to coordinate outfits for promotional and uniform applications.
